Make Smoot Hawley Again

Post by FlashDangerpants »

In recent threads others have predicted the outbereak of WWIII and Cold War II. But it turns out we'll be going a different way, with Great Depression II instead.
Reuters wrote: U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Monday that on his first day in office he would impose a 25% tariff on all products from Mexico and Canada, and an additional 10% tariff on goods from China, citing concerns over illegal immigration and the trade of illicit drugs.

"On January 20th, as one of my many first Executive Orders, I will sign all necessary documents to charge Mexico and Canada a 25% Tariff on ALL products coming into the United States, and its ridiculous Open Borders," Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

So it's back the beggar-thy-neighbour economic policies of the 1930s that casued so much misery. Well done American voters, I hope you get nice weather as you wait in line for soup.

Biden had also said he would increase tariffs on China in particular. It's all deterministic anyway 8)

Looks like it's time to start sharing Great Depression era soup recipes.

I'll get us started:

Depression Era Corn Chowder

Ingredients:
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans chicken broth
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans whole kernel corn
  • 1 large white onion, diced
  • 3 cups diced potatoes
  • 2 (12 fluid ounce) cans evaporated milk
  • ⅓ cup butter
  • salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
  • In a large pot over medium heat, combine broth, corn, onion and potatoes. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes, until potatoes are just tender.
  • Stir in evaporated milk and butter until butter is just melted. Season with salt and pepper and serve at once.

MmmmmMMMM delicious. Please share your tips on how to most nutritiously boil up old shoes so we don't starve under Trump's new prosperous regime.

Hey Americans. Are you fed up with paying $35/lb for basic NY Strip steaks at Trader Joes just because Trump wants Brazil to forgive and forget their traitorous ex-president's attempt to overthrow a democratic election by fomenting street violence and is imposing 50% tariffs to bully them... even though it makes you poor?

Here's a helpful chap offering dog food reviews so you can keep your strength up to celebrate all that winning.

As the dark clouds move in, and Blackstone has to stop taking management fees from a fund that holds Collateralised Loan Obligations to avoid a stampede for the exit, and Bitcoin tumbles, while the Rump admin finally tacitly admits that it isn't the foreigners who pay the tariffs by dropping rates on a handful of overpriced groceries such as beef and coffee... we are grateful to receive a hard-times-make-fat-bastards recipe contribution from Phil867-5309

Dissolve one chicken bullion in a bit of water. Add and whip.
1/4 stick of real butter.

1/2 cup of potato flakes. about the same in water. Whip and microwave on high for 2 min.

Whip again, to make sure the butter is melted throughout, and microwave again (always with a loose lid) for about 1 min.

Add pepper. Ready for breakfast.
You know you are doing poverty eating when they have to tell you the butter is real so you don't notice the potato is fake, but damn, the price eggs in America today.... That's some high life poverty eating right there. That's poor people with health insurance food.

Yeah that's right, the word Collateralised is coming back to the news...

Yessir, breathing air, why dat is poverty sucking.
Drinking water, dat is poverty slurping.
We are all elevated by pointing our fingers at anything we wish, and flattering ourselves that every thing is a political statement about whomever we see fit to babble on about.

Fuck off sick p ri ck.

You have real issues.

You know, you should rent a brain, but perhaps, you are too impoverished after paying for six lobotomies.

What do you mean 'we'? You don't even live there. Americans whine about the cost of food. I paid $1.50 for a lemon yesterday (my tree is yet to bear fruit) and $9 for 225g of butter. Eggs $7 for half a dozen. Phil's recipe is for the wealthy you idiot. You are so out of touch. Unlike you, most people don't have the luxury of sending their butler off to Harrods and Waitrose for their grocery needs. Tally ho.

It's just instant mashed potato microwaved with eggs and too much butter. It's a redneck slurry. But it probably pairs nicely with grilled squirrel and nice bottle of toilet wine.
