Sure. I would never argue otherwise. Who would? I'm sure most of us realize the world is bigger than us. So far, you are not saying anything that most are unaware of.
But then, why do they live as if they don't believe it?

But why? They can't do anything you can't do. And they aren't responsible for what happens to you. So complaining to them makes absolutely no sense.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 3:34 amTo anyone who asks or whom I happen to be talking to.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 3:06 amTo whom?Gary Childress wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 1:09 am

Are you sure that's the direction of your complaint?

Telling them I'm fine when I'm not makes even less sense. I'd rather be genuine and say what's on my mind than be phoney to people. Besides, if people don't want to hear me complain, then they are no friends of mine, nor people I would want to be friends with.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 3:37 amBut why? Really? Wouldn't a good friend point out to you that, by complaining to people who have nothing to do with your problem and can do nothing to help you, you were not helping yourself, but just making yourself more miserable by harping on your challenges instead of your blessings? Wouldn't a real friend want to see you be happy, rather than to maximize your own misery?Gary Childress wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 3:39 amTelling them I'm fine when I'm not makes even less sense. Well, if I can't talk to people unless I'm "happy," then I don't know what else to do. I can certainly tell them things I can be grateful for, if that's what they want to hear. And if that's what you want to hear, then I'm grateful for tea. It tastes better than water. What's something you are grateful for?Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 2:18 pmReally? It's not about "talking," Gary. It's about obsessing on your own miseries to people who are not the cause and not the cure. Surely that's a really useless hobby.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 2:26 pmWell, if I can't talk to people unless I'm "happy," then I don't know what else to do.Immanuel Can wrote: ↑Wed Jun 17, 2026 2:18 pmReally? That's a better start, Gary. Now you have just one thing in your life for which you can take a few paltry seconds to feel thankful. A tiny crack of light just opened in the otherwise-unremitting bleakness of your thoughts.I can certainly tell them things I can be grateful for, if that's what they want to hear. And if that's what you want to hear, then I'm grateful for tea. It tastes better than water.
Now do it again. And again.
So many things. Knowing God is number 1, far and away. That's the best thing in all of existence, I do believe. What's something you are grateful for?

A religious airhead, and that is directly from the talking snake.
