There are so many possibilities for communication from who the partner is to the format to what is discussed.
I am raising this issue for Gary. Perhaps he is getting what he wants/needs. Great, keep it up. If not, then........?
If that seems like shooting spitballs to you, so it is to you.
Your options are also a false dilemma. You left out an important category.

The evidence is the PN forum and the basis of complaints about the forum, so it is, but the complaints are not mine and from what I've heard about other places, not unique. The "not uniqueness," is not caused by my perception.

However, your perception of irrationality with regards to IC, may well be your own, it may be a lack of agreed premises with what you perceive to be irrational, or it may just be a spitball although with you, I don't think it's that.

I'm not sure what you mean here and how it connects to what we've said.

Yes, it may well be my own, perhaps shared by some others, but there's always the possibility it is merely our own. No, it wasn't just a spitball. I can throw those directly at IC if it's spitballs I want to throw. But regardless of the rationality/irrationality reality, there might be a better interlocutor for Gary. Even if that person has more or less the same beliefs as IC.

And earlier on it seemed GC was hoping to resolve the issues he has via discussion online. I think that's unlikely.
He's now said he has no interest in participating in the religion or even reading the Bible.

Makes me wonder, if that's true, whether this is the best discussion for him.

Maybe he'd click with a sufi, for example. Or maybe gardening would be a lovely next step.

The relevance is, like locked threads, my perception of spitball is not merely personal.

Either a premise is mutually accepted, or the party of the first part insists upon a binary choice for one outcome when in fact one outcome cannot be binary, but rather, one outcome is the only result of inevitability, and IC would certainly disagree with that, given that the Holy Bible says God gave man choice.

So how can I think what I think, and he think what he thinks? How can both be true?

Well, how can one full cup be poured into another full cup without spillage? How can fully human and fully God exist in one form? Linear logic says impossible, although the rational concept of one hundred percent might be weakened due to generations of job prospects promising to give a hundred and ten percent to the company. Even though God is not bound by time, the human definition and understanding of simultaneous is bound by time, even though that does not say everything about time or what constitutes simultaneous.

Lest a spitball appear as a brain fart from the peanut gallery, this is not to imply that anyone other than Jesus is God but it does render into irrelevance the chicken and egg conundrum with regards to God needing to conform to any particular "party of the first part" human time table or human notions of causation.

Well, I haven’t followed the dialogues closely but I have noticed that challenging the philosophy of turning the other cheek is a mundane proving ground borne of frustration.

They usually attract the women folk. I've already suggested that Gary join a choir. There will be a lady there who can take him on as a project and teach him how to sing.

Really??

You think that the positive aspects of Jesus' message are of interest mainly to women?

Men are mainly interested in hell and damnation?

Frustration seems to be in there, I haven't seen discussions of turn the other cheek between those two.

OK, I'm not sure what locked threads had to do with this topic. Perhaps it is a metaphor or an example of how your perceptions of another issue is really objective, so maybe here too. I don't know.

Mainly?
"Mainly," is your classification.
The thought of mainly never even crossed my mind.

You rather missed the point again, didn't you.

Do try and be honest.

I don't recall seeing those discussions either, so to understand the point, turn attention towards the concept of, "proving ground."

Mainly might not be the best adverb, but the groups that don't focus on hell and damnation attract the women folk, you said. If it was that they attracted people in general, well, then no need to focus on the women. Why do you think men and women react differently? Are they equally good preferences?

I do understand the phrase, but I'm still not sure how this connects with the Gary and IC discussion. If it was supposed to.....

Those groups also attract men-folk, which I never excluded.

You should be more discriminating and thoughtful with your inferences.

Do you think a walking, talking*, hell and damnation woman would be better for Gary than a woman from your so-called different kind of Christianity that also attracts women, and men?

Are you trying to set Gary up for unhappiness?
Do you really dislike Gary that much?

(Hey, silly questions really are easy.)

* and singing, as in the choir you forgot to mention in your rush to hell and damnation.
