I don't care what stupid names you all call yourselves, you change them every week, it's the same old collection of racist imbeciles every time. It had nothing like a million people. They were drunk and they pissed all over everything.
In your job, do you perhaps just stand in one place and operate a cash register? What role do you perform if there's a fire or other emergency? What skills do you use in this job? Are you the boss? Will you become the boss?

I expect you are always polite to strangers, but true civility is sincere and impartial. You would be more impartial if you were better informed. Your dislike, as you describe it above, is founded on misinformation.Maia wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:13 pmI'm always civil. Yes, you do a job for ... roughly mimum wage? One that you will probably never leave and that's fine, you tick a useful box, you won't need replacing, and the council pays for you to be there. And you won't need much in the way of training I expect. Your job is to make small talk and provide propulsion for the inactive.Maia wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:02 pmNo, in my job I assist elderly people, some of them disabled, to take part in organised activities at a leisure centre. As I've told you before, more than once, my job is not a DEI job. I got it on my own merits, after leaving school. Why do you assume that the only job I'm capable of getting is a DEI job? That sounds like prejudice, to me.
As for filthy racist EDL scumbags, you seem to be unaware that the EDL was disbanded over a decade ago, after Tommy Robinson left it. The event that he organised in London last month was called Unite the Kingdom, which had a million people turn up to it, according to the more trustworthy accounts. I would probably have gone myself, if it had been anywhere other than London, and there were no doubt lots of people who felt like that.

I wonder, would they be able to hire a deaf person to work alongside you? Or would they have to put you both on different shifts for safety reasons? If another blind person applies to work there, do they have to wait for you to leave to create an opening?

Academics often describe this sort of xenophobia as “cultural backlash” or “left-behind” populism, not simply racism. It’s a defence of perceived social order and identity, rather than innate prejudice.

It's far more likely that your own opinion is founded on misinformation, and ignorance. Your experience is not in doubt. What is doubtful is your interpretation of that experience.Maia wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:32 pmIt's far more likely that your own opinion is founded on misinformation, and ignorance. I know what I know from long experience.
Re: Jews banned from Birmingham
That's actually quite insulting, to be honest, and reveals your innate prejudice. You assume that I'm incapable of actually achieving anything on my own merits. I've no idea if another blind person has ever applied, nor a deaf person for that matter, but I can tell you that a lot of the clients are blind or deaf, in various stages, due to their age. It's true that they never pair me with a blind client for the wheelchair sports, but this is just common sense, right? But apart from that, I'm actually very popular with those who are losing their sight, which again, is pretty obvious, I would have thought, and not in any way insulting. Unlike what you've just wrote, above.FlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:26 pmYes, you do a job for ... roughly mimum wage? Meh. In the USA they currently have a whole squealing match going on because the populist "conservatives" who support Trump have seemingly only just discovered - thanks to their political enemy paying for an ad to tell them about it - that Ronald Reagan was violently opposed to tariffs and in favour of free trade. The American populists are so stupid that they currently all appear to believe that the televised speech that Reagan made asserting this exact thing in a radio address to the nation on April 25th 1987 is some sort of modern AI deep fake.Belinda wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 7:01 pmI don't think head wounds will do . The harsh reality has always been that some people are only populists, and cannot amount to more than that. That being a real Tory would require views on matters that many loyal Tory voters don't want to spend time acquiring views on and also wouldn't want to hold themselves to. Just as being a real Republican used to require more than just racism, Jesus, guns and not liking them queers, but voting Repub never needed more than that, so being a proper Tory used to mean taking some sort of view about the value of tradition alongside an antipathy to organised labour unions and some meaningful reason for wanting the state to remove itself from various aspects of our lives etc...
All of this is too complicated for the Walkers, accelafines and Maias of this world. They are each fixated on some narrow range of issues and/or loyalties, and can slot none of it into any broader set, nor can they adequately cognise why this is an issue. They are not bright people, nor can they hold sophisticated views. Nor will they ever reconsider anything.
Tory education cuts can't account for all this. Far right single-issue gammons are the product of the same education system as any number of normal, well ordered people with an eye for nuance. What has changed is that you can build a political party specifically to mine this seam of idiot voters that used to reliably vote whichever way their dad did before them.
Now evil bastards like Musk can use algorithms to locate easily directed window lickers like Maia towards misinformation vendors who keep them on edge with scary stories and totally fake statistics about how many Muslims there are in some place. Now these benighted fools are swamped with disinformation peddling to their individual terrors. They think there's trannies and rape gangs round every corner because they have entered the echo chamber that tells them horror stories all day long.
Maia isn't here to be talked down from the madness by you or me. She's here to spread the madness as widely was possible. Spreading alt right propaganda is her only objective on this site. But she's a victim of it simply because she is stupid as all holy fuck.

This is exactly why the left are losing the battle for hearts and minds. How stupid must they be to continually call their opponents thick, without even making the attempt to understand what they're saying. For example, we don't like the fact that hundreds of thousands of underage girls have been victims of racially motivated rape gangs. Call us old fashioned, or prejudiced, but such things don't really sit well with us.FlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Tue Oct 28, 2025 8:00 pmNot because you are blind. I doubt I need to bother writing anything new for this thread. Here's some repeated text that seems to cover everything that needs saying.

I guess we can add that they also are prone to beliving that one specific religion creates abusive perverts at a rate others can't match. But if anybody really needs to think that through a second time, can you do anything really for somebody that simplistic?

Have you been to London?
