Ok, I can understand what you're getting at, there. It's a different system, not necessarily better or worse than standard astrology, just different. More naturalistic, perhaps, and certainly less complicated.Atla wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 8:41 amBecause in my version of "Astrology", where it matters which months we spent in the womb and shortly after birth (this is a months long effect, the effect of the one day and night cycle when we are born, is negligible compared to it), the year isn't neatly divided into 12 different signs. That's just obviously dumb anyway. Instead, it's a continuous year-long change.Maia wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 8:22 amI fully and absolutely agree that the yearly cycle of the seasons affects us very deeply. But the daily rhythm of day and night is no less important, and this is what the ascendant indicates, though admittedly, I don't have a natural diurnal rhythm myself, for, well, reasons.Atla wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 8:07 am
I think there isn't, the yearly cycle of the seasons is what strongly biologically affects us before and shortly after our birth. That stuff gets hardwired for life. Nothing to do with the sky and planets, it's both a disillusioning and an extremely useful / eye-opening / interesting realization imo. You for example are about 80-85% Pisces and 15-20% Aquarius.
How do you work out that I'm part Aquarius, without taking into account the other planets?
In reality, the "typical" Pisces description is for people born in the middle of the sign. Someone born on say Feb 19 is half Pisces half Aquarius. You were born on March 2 which is close to the middle, but a little on the Aquarius side.
(This is also why decan Astrology, which further divides signs into three decans, happens to be more accurate.)
Everything I say can be prefaced with "statistically speaking", of course.
I've confirmed hundreds of times that my version of "Astrology" is correct btw.![]()

By what metrics could you judge if one was better or worse anyway?
Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
If they do the job, I suppose. That is, provide a coherent reading. The one using just sun signs, though, could never be personalised in the way that a full chart is.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 9:48 amBy what metrics could you judge if one was better or worse anyway?

But anything can be coherent. It's really easy to be coherent. Two entirely opposing types of astrology could be coherent, and yet mutually exclusive. Is there no means of telling which one is true (or true-er) beyond just coherence?Maia wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 9:58 amIf they do the job, I suppose. That is, provide a coherent reading. Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
Imo Astrological effects account for say 20-30% of our total personality. Pisces is around 30% or even a bit more (there is an unusually strong change in late Feb / early March every year).
Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
That's the nature of divination systems. Tarot, Runes, Ogham, I Ching, and countless others, all of which most Pagans seem to have great fun with, giving each other readings. And that's really the point, I always felt. They're basically just a prop. Astrology, though, rooted in the natural cycles of the earth, may have something more tangible about it.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 9:59 amBut anything can be coherent. Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
Is that because of the lead up to the spring equinox? That's where standard astrology begins the year, anyway, at Aries.

I always found them boring, to be honest.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:19 amWell, if it's fun then it's fun! Is there a type of divination you don't think is boring? If not, then what's your interest in it?Maia wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:22 amI always found them boring, to be honest.
Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
Imo: I've been observing the phenomenon for a few years, days begin to lengthen in January, and there is more and more light, and in late January we suddenly start to notice a change, but it's nothing extreme, just a pleasant feeling. It also gets warmer. The change continues and strengthens rather unnoticably in February, then around Feb 22 or so we seem to reach some kind of threshold, and then bam. Total chaos in the mind, and in the following 2 weeks or so we start to feel emotions extremely strongly too. Eventually things calm down. In short, it's the biological shock of early Spring after the deprivation of Winter.
People born on the Aqua-Pisces cusp are maybe the most baffling in the entire zodiac. You just barely missed it. A weird mixture of emotion AND emotional switch-off, and chaos, 2 or more personality fragments, and their intuition is out of this world, second to none. I had SUCH a hard time figuring out that type.
Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
I think astrology has potential, given its basis in genuine natural cycles, and that's why it's interesting. Not so much as a divination system, but as a way of mapping reality, I suppose, and our connection with it. Like all maps, it's presumably far from perfect, but that's fine.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:28 amIs there a type of divination you don't think is boring? Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
Yes, I can relate to that, the early spring feeling. I do actually quite like winter, though not when it's raining, but spring always has that sense of anticipation, something fresh, and new.Atla wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:29 amImo: I've been observing the phenomenon for a few years, days begin to lengthen in January, and there is more and more light, and in late January we suddenly start to notice a change, but it's nothing extreme, just a pleasant feeling. And I'm glad I missed the Aqua-Pisces cusp, then.

Re: Calculating my birth chart with Grok
So you suppose it's not just fun, it's also "real" in some meaningful sense? Like, real in the sense that it could be scientifically investigated and confirmed? Or in some other sense?Maia wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:37 amI think astrology has potential, given its basis in genuine natural cycles, and that's why it's interesting. I think such tests have already been done, and, from memory, they found that some aspects of astrology were valid, and some not. As one would expect, I suppose, with a subject that has been accreting details for a good couple of millennia and more.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Wed Apr 09, 2025 10:45 amSo you suppose it's not just fun, it's also "real" in some meaningful sense?
