I admit that I was rather relieved when he exited the bus at his destination - and while I have not looked into the history/current events related to this war, I would say that the angry Russian man's claims are iffy, if not outright preposterous.
If you examine things generally, and really try to think things through — here I refer to
narratives, the sorts of things that get said in all types of spin campaigns — I think you will find that many contain preposterous elements. Preposterous statements, preposterous claims, preposterous assertions swirling around us and, let’s face it, the decibel level of preposterousness is not decreasing.
This is one reason I referred to my great-grandfather Geronimo Jacobi’s statements about truth as a substance or quantity best kept at a safe distance. True, he was a minor literary figure if the entire world is considered (writing in Paraguay in the tens and twenties) — but please take into consideration that in his 1922 essay
Verdades Incendiarías y Ganado Contemporáneo (I translate this a bit freely as “Incendiary Truths and the Contemporary Cattle-Brained”) he recognized clearly that “the cattle” are not constituted to handle truth and, if they are forced to face too much of it, it singes them too deeply. When they are thus singed they manifest symptoms similar to mad cow disease. Feverish bellowing, excesses of frothy salivation, that sort of thing.
Those who inflict too much truth on those incapable of dealing with it often incur the anger of the
ganado:
“It is our duty to protect the thinkers from the rage of the cattle and the cattle from too hefty doses of truth.”
He also wrote that
“An ethical writer (‘filosofo’) understands with the genuine thinker, but feels with the cattle.”
It is clear even to the dim-witted that Russia did not invade Ukraine to round up those holding the Ukrainian counterpart to transvestite story-hour. That is a narrative suited to the cattle-brained.
As well the term “Globohomo” is, similarly, an abbreviation for a series and set of notions that form part of a critical posture that could fairly be described as “anti-Liberal”.
So for example if I were to say that the Occident (our cultures) have now become like a “
gay disco” you would I assume examine the statement as
rhetorically infused and expressing truth on one level, a level that I assume you would imagine could be explained. An
allusion to a truth really, delivered ironically and with some bite.
Flash himself (Flash Danger Pants: a very well-prepared philosopher of extraordinary depth and breadth I must say) once wrote
and posted on these pages an extensive and graphic homosexual fantasy involving the sodomization of a “rent boy”.
Now, his “proclivities” are his own of course (myself I always enjoyed my women ‘raw & with syrup’ and consider myself a
connaisseur de la vulve) but my point here is: what happens when a culture “goes gay” — or how should I put it? When what was considered deviant and unmanly goes mainstream and is then presented to the world as good, acceptable, fascinating and even necessary?
How can one talk about the process of unleashing raw, graphic sexual imagery (both hetero and homosexual) out into the world-space? Sexuality is deeply attractive and addictive to the average human, is it not?
But back to the term
globohomo (this from a Wiki page):
Noun
globohomo (uncountable)
(alt-right, anti-LGBTQ slur, Internet slang, 4chan slang, derogatory) The supposed promotion of homosexuality, neoliberal economics, and progressive values coupled with the paternalistic curtailment of freedoms by corporate and political interests.
“the globohomo agenda”
How can this be talked about?
Can it be talked about fairly?
Flash? Your (sticky) thoughts?
