"it's worth it in the end."
There's a possible problem with this idea of an 'end' of perfect happiness and all that. Whatever this state of happiness is and means, in order for us to be able to even imagine what it might be like, it has to be similar to the kind of happinesses we know. And most if not all our happinesses are relative states where they are what they are becuz we've gotten out of some unpleasant state.... and therein lies the rub; there are no unpleasant states in a perfect happiness, and so there can be no progress... the thing that makes the only kinds of happinesses we know possible.
A perfect happiness without some kind of suffering doesn't make any sense.
I never implied nor inferred from the sage that he meant "perfect happiness"
Thing is, the HELL and great suffering I have endured due to the wrath of God makes me appreciate my life and everything so much more (now).
LOL here "attofishpi" you speak as though what you just lived with was some sort of so-called 'great suffering' and which you also, laughingly, claim you 'had to endure', was worse or more to 'endure' than that of a child who 'has to' live with-in while and when you adult human beings are fighting and warring with each other.

Well as you know I am a Christian that believes in karmic reincarnation (to a point) - that heaven and hell exist as MODES on Earth.
In what way and how you adult human beings mis/behave here on earth is what kind of life you will create here on earth. If you behave Truly responsible, then you will get what you deserve, that is; a heaven like existence, or way of life, and conversely, if you keep misbehaving irresponsibly, then you will, also, get what you deserve, that is: a hell like existence and way of life.
And, the most important part here is either way of life happens and occurs HERE, in this Universe, in regards to when 'you', collectively, are alive, or existing, and in regards to you collectively only.
Karmic reincarnation until a heaven like existence begins, and remains, has never ever been about nor in regards to absolutely any one, individually, at all.
The only reason the majority believed those words were in relation to and about you individual human beings was because you 'grew up' becoming very selfish and greedy individuals.
Reincarnation, getting what you deserve, heaven, and hell are in relation to and are about 'you', collectively, as One, and were never about any one of 'you', individually.

I've also stated that I believe the universe to be cyclic, but that doesn't mean I believe in "eternal recurrence", I think Nietzsche suggested that?
