Re: The Olympics
The Olympics has become a ridiculous farce anyway. Remember all the fuss over Soviet bloc female athletes taking testoserone? All the female athletes who've had medals taken off them for taking testosterone? Athletes being disqualified for taking something as minor as an aspirin before competing? How long is it since Russia has been allowed to compete? Yet now the IOC allows actual MEN to compete against actual WOMEN. What's their reasoning? That testosterone is ok in women's competition as long as it's the result of male puberty. Got it.
This is hands down the most unpleasant and obnoxious olympics in history.

Wait until the next one. They'll have a tripedophile event where atheletes have to navigate through a obstacle course of playgounds, mall arcades, putt putt courses and chuck E cheeses to molest as many kids as possible before the clock runs out.

Re: The Olympics
You could be in for a gold then, but you will have to compete against all those female paedophiles who are popping up everywhere...you know, the ones with penises and prostates and gigantic addam's apples. It's what's on the PASSPORT that counts, you know.promethean75 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 11:14 pm Wait until the next one. Re: The Olympics
I don't think Caster Semenya injured any fellow competitors, although perhaps one of them strained a muscle trying to keep up with her. I support women's sports (and men's sports). I love sports. I just think the gender whining is overblown. I get it. I don't know the first thing about the Olympic boxers in question. But gender is a difficult issue, and the I thought (without doing much research) that the performance decreasing drugs prescribed for Semenya to enable her to compete were ridiculous. Gender should be defined one way. Genetic advantageous are intrinsic to sport, and may or may not be defined by gender.accelafine wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 5:47 pmYou are insane. It's not all about winning or losing, it's also about safety and staying alive. Women are getting seriously injured by cheating male perverts in sports. Are you suggesting that women should stop doing sport altogether to avoid these misogynistic, cheating, perverted thugs? Stay at home and cook for woman-hating wankers like you?Alexiev wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 2:39 pmWaah! Waah! "No crying in baseball!" (Or other sports.)accelafine wrote: ↑Sat Aug 03, 2024 2:03 am Woke, narcissistic, misogynistic man 'feels sorry' for a woman who stands up for women's rights because he has competed in sports (presumably against other men) and enjoyed it, then goes on to mansplain why women should be happy to compete against men because despite the truckloads of awards and trophies he has won, they meant NOTHING to him and in fact he somehow 'lost' them in the mists of time. Hmm. That's not patronising at all.
Indeed. I have won many Olympic gold medals, but they meant nothing to me (it was the participation that counted) and in fact I no longer have them because I accidentally put them out with the rubbish...
I didn't know that "women's rights" included the right to not compete with men. Gee. I thought women wanted to compete with men. I guess I was wrong.
One general point: the adage "If something is worth doing, it's worth doing well" is ridiculous. Sport is a perfect example of what the adage should state: "If something is worth doing, it's worth doing badly." If we enjoy play it is worth doing whether we win or lose,
The boxing issue was addressed earlier. Boxing is a violent, potentially brain damaging sport. Doubtless some women hit just as hard as the women whose gender has been questioned. It's perfectly reasonable to have qualification standards for women's sports. I believe currently the standards are set by the regulating bodies for each particular sport. I have no idea what they are for each sport (I followed the Semenya case in a cursory manner). Some governing bodies probably meet with your approval. Others do not. I have no opinion on the matter, except to think, as I have argued here, that the issue is of little importance, and (like drug testing, which is also regulated by each sport) we should avoid having conniption fits about it.

Is that how unis teach 'philosophers' how to argue? I've never seen anything so pathetic. I can only assume he's doing this to get his arse handed to him by a woman. Well I'm not his whackjob material. He can go and pay a prostitute for that. He's on ignore, so any future comments this 'Alexiev' directs at me should be classed as harassment.
Re: The Olympics
Like there is anyone who doesn't know this. If you are a man who wants to be a woman, or you're indeed rather female in the head but the rest of your body is mostly male, you will automatically have a 20-50% advantage over women that no amount of training can make up for.Physical Fact: Women usually produce about two-thirds the amount of total strength and applied force which men produce.
The Olympics may be a friendly competition but it's a competition nevertheless, these athletes often train for half their lives and they come to WIN, for themselves and their country, but of course the above destroys any fair competition.
In an ideal world we wouldn't have this problem but we don't live in an ideal world, so what Mr. Spock said applies:
"Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.”
To ensure the fair competition of the ~99%, the other 1% needs to be excluded from the competition. Life isn't fair and this is the best we can do.

So even though you are a female, you don't feel like a female?accelafine wrote: ↑Sun Aug 04, 2024 5:54 amHow would you know? 'Female' is a biological fact, not a 'feeling' in the head.
