It's enough that I interact with your own words here from time to time.Walker wrote: ↑Mon Oct 30, 2023 9:00 am
Okay. I did as you suggested. I wrote my own dumbass essays, adapted to dialogue. I did so with a happy spirit, as you also suggested with your emoji.
So now, take some responsibility for the consequences of your demands, and pay back. Praytell, what do you see in the above link ... and in this case neither of us is following your lead with a prejudgment of whatever you might write, or not.

'This one' will, literally, NOT even consider just VIEWING, LOOKING AT, and/or DELVING INTO absolutely ANY 'thing' that "another" thinks IS COMPELLING, or even OF INTEREST, BECAUSE of SOME ALREADY GAINED and HELD ONTO PRECONCEPTION, and PRESUMPTION.
A PRIME example of one who IS BEING COMPLETELY DEAF, BLIND, AND CLOSED is PRESENTED here in 'its' PUREST FORM.
AGAIN, talk ABOUT one being COMPLETELY and UTTERLY LOST IN, and BECAUSE OF, their OWN STRONGLY HELD ONTO and FIXED BELIEFS.
Lost in the flood of beliefs

Re: Lost in the flood of beliefs
There are belief, belief and belief. Normal people have the courage to see very simple fact: our own had are full of them. All people have 99% just stories how thing works. You or i have just story who is closer to what is really going on or more far. Do you have the courage to see that ? God exist, God doesnt exist, both people dont know and who caress, wright ? No, there are just people who want to be normal and people who want to be special and tell another guy god exist or vice versa. And this is with all logics in the world people talk. No one caress how things really works, just my is "obviously better" then yours.

Don't be silly. When possible, I don't offer precious memories for an asshole to piss on.

Your poor understanding of anatomy is showing, Walker.

But, you do understand the meaning of the creative metaphor that the words signify, in that specfic ordering, whether or not you admit it.

Qualities of the Sangha

So, what kind of qualities does the Sangha have that we want to develop ourselves?
1. When they teach, they don’t just repeat what they’ve learned from books. They speak from their own authentic experience – and this is really inspiring.
2. Their only wish is to help others, and they practice what they preach. Think of a smoker scolding us about the dangers of smoking, we will really wonder why we should follow their advice, right? For that reason, the Sangha is always sincere in what they do, so we can really trust them.
3. When we spend time with bad company, often we don’t even realize how much we pick up their bad qualities ourselves. Similarly, if we hang out with good friends, without even much effort, we quickly gain good qualities. So, the Sangha has a very good influence on us to improve our Dharma practice.
Re: Lost in the flood of beliefs
You have no precious memories. Let's face it you don't even have a passport. You've never been out of your state, and have lived for the msot part in your hill billy village with all those scared goats.
And this is why your opinions are so parochial and narrow minded.

The intent of ALL religious stories is not to lure the fearful, but instead, to point in the direction of the non-intellectual, where true spirituality resides. The words are simply pointing the way, which is why religion is steeped in all things human [intellectual], from limitless love to the most gruesome atrocities.Lacewing wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 8:24 amDo we human beings just not raise our awareness long enough to recognize how much of our beliefs are built on endlessly recycled stories? Was it spirits, beer or wine?
Interesting. Looks like your idea of "Have a nice day," is to take a piss. I wonder, why would you want to know if I have a passport? Rhetorical question, I don't really care to know what you say your reasons are, due to the likelihood of ostensibilty in your self-justification.
I wonder, could you be some of that bad company I recently read about? Doesn't matter. What matters is one's relationship with the the company one encounters, whether it be bad or good, toxic or impotent. Attachment to the relationship with a bitter and impotent one, that is, one defined as impotent due to his inability to affect others as he intends others to be affected by him, is a ripe opportunity for an attentive contemplation concerning how that attachment to a relationship, whether it be good company or bad company, is what causes suffering.
You may wonder, how can deep attachment to the good cause suffering? Answer: because the embodiment of the good to which we focus attachment is temporary, and when it is gone we will suffer deeply because of our attachment. Should we be disassociated from the good so that we do not suffer? No. We deeply love the good, and suffering is the cost of love.
Now, you go have a pain free day without bitterness, Sculptor. I do like the sculps of yours that I've seen, but don't let that go to your head.

Excellent. I think you will like this explanation of the relationship between non-intellectual meditation and intellectual contemplation, by Shinzen Young. I’ve posted it before, you may know of it already. It’s quite good for all capacities and levels of knowledge.

It's just a crying shame that Lacewing refuses to open certain links but not others. Maybe this is one of the others. Maybe she will sneak a peak at this one on the sly, and not take a leak on this precious knowledge.

I've been a serious Zen student for several decades, so I get it. Although I did not read the link, I found the title interesting, "How Meditation Works." It would almost be like writing a piece titled, "Understanding God."Walker wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 5:13 amsimplicity wrote: ↑Wed Nov 01, 2023 1:18 amThe intent of ALL religious stories is not to lure the fearful, but instead, to point in the direction of the non-intellectual, where true spirituality resides.
