What really dawned on me, was that the bible was deemed to be ok for kids, ya know, a book where a man is nailed to a piece of wood, and also that the creator of all these kids just might burn you for eternity. F'ing ridiculous.

The thing that gets me is that the central message of christianity is that someone else will pay for your sins. That is a terrible message to give kids.

My attitude, since early adulthood, towards homosexuality has gone from not really knowing anything about it but being amused by it, to learning more and being revolted by it, to being influenced by changing social attitudes towards it and beginning to tolerate it, and finally to completely accepting it. That is because I consider myself free to question my attitudes and opinions, and I have revised them, rather than having to wait until God revises his.

This is why I condemn religion, you can't reason with it.

That last paragraph is rather similar my own comprehension. Indeed it wasn't until one of my best mates told me about his homosexual brother, how his dad dealt with him, and how close he was to suicide that I totally changed my opinion. Also, I cannot stand the "gay" parades like the Sydney Mardi-Gras - ok, you're 'gay' doesn't mean we all need to see hairy blokes wearing barely anything parading around city streets ffs. In fact, my mates homo brother is of the same opinion - it disgusts him.

This is why I condemn religion, you can't reason with it.

The US evangelist nutjobs that are all anti-homsexuality are such disgusting bigots, that have barely read a thing of the bible. He is totally right. Anyone that is stupid enough to accept religious doctrine to the depth of not challenging it, is NOT open to reason.

EVERYTHING should be challenged with reason, even if it was a GOD that gave us an intelligent mind to challenge GOD supposed doctrines in their own right.

Book banning has been pretty bipartisan over time and I am pretty sure all three have been attacked by both sides and removed from various regions, libraries, schools. God knows the religious right can be offended by pretty much anything. If the Bible wasn't their Bible, the sex, violence, incest and aspersions cast upon God would likely get it banned.
