I am not sure what you mean here. Are you agreeing? The first example is fairly harmless except perhaps at dinner parties or for the collector's family if they want to talk about it and don't notice others' lack of interest. The latter type of person might be just peachy if they are interesting, speak well and listen also. Or they could be social monsters.

Passion adds intensity, of some kind. So to me it depends on what they are intense about and then also how the passion manifests. If it manifests in shrieking and hitting people, then the particular thing they are passionate about probably can't eliminate the problems. Unless they are passionate about protecting their family and are screaming at and hitting someone who broke into their daughter's room to rape her.

This is me digging at the potential blanket condemnation of passion.

I've had neighers so passionate about mosing their lawns they had no problem being passionate about the lack of care of mine. I mean, I hear you. Some people likely do get passionate about things to run from the nothingness of other aspects of their lives. But then.....I don't think it iholds as a blanket condemnation.

We got limbic systems. Things matter to us. Yes, we can use passions as defense mechanisms, distrations. We can work ourselves up.
On the other hand we can be passionately drawn to things without some need to replace or distract or hide or for secondary gain.

I spelled 'den' correctly. It was 'my den', not 'a den' by the way. Given that den can mean a room in a flat or house, one can have one. Hence 'my den'.
Ain't was meant playfully, and many people would see that I have also been playing with Harbal in my responses. (I see subtlety is not your forte).

There seems to be an obessional demand for using correct spelling as well as good grammar on this PN forum, as if it mattered at all, since each culture from whatever country surely is entitled to use their own conditioned lingo. So why would anyone want to judge what is simply some diverse cultural norms of expression. It seems a bit petty to me. Even the most highly educated among us can misspell words, and fall into grammatical errors, but what does any of this matter on an English speaking forum, where most of the readers and posters understand the English language. Knowing English, most people would normally be able to decipher what a misspelt word is actually saying and there would be no point in getting all pedantic and uppity about it.

Some people are really bad at spelling and grammar, but so what?... Surely it's what they have to say that's more important in my opinion. Truth cookies and nuggets are found in the message, not in how the message is being spelt. Why be too overly passionate about the delivery and presentation of a message, when it's what's being said that really matters, surely?... We all bleed the same red blood, expressing ourselves with words is not a composition competition, is it?

Just felt like a rant...no insult or offence implied or intended.
