You ask if I believe it is odd that man is the only creature knowing it will die. It isn’t odd for anyone who understands as Plato pointed out that we are dual natured.
Saying we are dual natured is just repeating what I said in a different way. I still think it's odd why we are the only creature who has knowledge of ourselves as having a dual nature. WHY US is what I want to find out?
I'm thinking more about what separates humans from the other primates including animals of all description. Obviously it is our capacity to reason. But why us? why are we different, is it just a fluke of nature, a one of a kind unique phenomena that humans evolved the way they did?
Nick_A wrote: ↑Thu Oct 03, 2019 8:49 pm Our collective soul or essence has a higher part which descended from and a lower animal part arising from the earth as does the rest of organic life. The higher part is capable of consciousness and the awareness of life and death in the lower part.
I understand this higher and lower part can be tested in the kundalini experience that is again unique to the human body where the ego transcends into the unity of universal consciousness. But why us? I don't think anyone really knows the answer to why us?
What most do is argue opinions but there are a minority open to learn how to “understand” rather than argue opinions. They are as necessary for the survival of humanity as much as the world must hate them. They begin with the understanding what Socrates introduced when he said "I know nothing." This is the last thing experts want to hear which is why Socrates had to be killed. What Socrates said is intolerable Yet this minority recogizing the reality of the expression is willing to start with a clean slate in the effort to "understand"rather than argue opinions
But we don't know anything do we,what we know is what we've invented with our imagination. You still need to ponder why we think ourselves more special, are we special, are we heading toward greater realities beyond the earth, beyond death, into other more advanced other worlds beyond this planet, galaxy? is that what being spiritual is about, did the primate evolved into a human being for a specific reason, was it planned, is their a purpose or and end goal to become God-like? Are there other life forms in the universe more advanced than we are..again, why do we think like this, why us.
Can anyone ever know, or do they just make up stories?
.
Hi DAM
We begin with different premises. Rather than be at each other’s throats as what has become the norm we can just follow and attempt to verify the reasoning that has attracted us to our perspectives.
Where you assert that all is one and what we interpret is only imagination, I believe that we are all within ONE and serve the process of existence as qualities of being serving as fragments of the whole.
I had created thread on the great chain of being which describes how the relativity of being is expressed both in animate and inanimate matter. So for me, separation is a universal reality and the way fragments of the whole are related can be demonstrated mathematically through the laws of vibration. Naturally discussing this is beyond the scope of this thread.

Humanity exists on a level of reality called “earth” within which all planets serve their existence. This level of reality serves as the place where mechanical animal life can evolve to become part of conscious life. Our planet is where animal man can consciously evolve to become conscious Man. Doing so is the goal of religion worthy of its name. But as you know it is seldom the case. Most often it is used by animal man in positions of power to gain control over the majority through fear.
We differ from other primates by the quality of our being expressing both the results of the dominant lower parts of the soul with the aspirations we are drawn to from higher conscious influences. Not being able to reconcile it, produces hypocrisy in our daily lives
Man does have a greater ability for associative thought and dialectic reason but what really distinguishes Man from the primates is the inner knowledge of our source. It is soul knowledge of what is greater than us which has its origin from beyond the world.
We are different because of universal structure producing the great chain of being. All of creation is either in the process of serving involution or the flow of forces away from the source or evolution serving the process of the return flow towards the source.
Providing the level of being in which mechanical evolution can continue into conscious evolution defines Man’s objective meaning and purpose. The fallen human condition has made it so that only a few can grow in their being to the experience of objective meaning and purpose.
The question “why us” cannot be answered as long as we believe the purpose of the universe is to serve us. It does become clear once we recognize that we are here to serve objective universal meaning and purpose. We cannot understand this until we can reach the limits of the dialectic and reliance on fantasy and begin to experience noesis or intuition which contains soul knowledge and allows for the vertical inner experience of the lawful relativity of being which connects no-thing with every thing.
