It did not so much "launch" as plummet.

Many of his "inventions" though way ahead of their time did not actually work being made from material that were too crude.
His diving suit would have worked, but his aircraft never got off the ground, and his tank would have been almost impossible to move without an engine.
HC, as usual the point seemingly went over your head or you're just being ornery. But, as I said earlier, in so many words, 'all human inventions are built upon the accomplishments of predecessors.' So it's our human legacy that's responsible, not any one individual. Human knowledge is always a-posteriori.
And 'launch' can be taken several ways!

Well, yes, but some leaps are much more obvious than others. Babbage and the analytic engine. Lovelace and her programming. Classical mechanics. Calculus. Maxwell and EMF. Relativity. Psychoanalytic theory. Some ideas are pretty nifty.

You are dictionary challenged aren't you?
Now pay attention.

launch1 [lawnch, lahnch]
verb (used with object)
1. to set (a boat or ship) in the water.
2. to float (a newly constructed boat or ship) usually by allowing to slide down inclined ways into the water.
3. to send forth, catapult, or release, as a self-propelled vehicle or weapon: Rockets were launched midway in the battle. The submarine launched its torpedoes and dived rapidly.
4. to start (a person) on a course, career, etc.
5. to set going; initiate: to launch a scheme.
6. to throw; hurl: to launch a spear.
7. to start (a new venture) or promote (a new product): They launched a new breakfast cereal.
8. Computers. to start (a software program).
verb (used without object)
9. to burst out or plunge boldly or directly into action, speech, etc.
10. to start out or forth; push out or put forth on the water.
noun
11. the act of launching.

Why not consult reference material instead of inserting your foot in your mouth? Oh, I forgot, because you actually believe you know it all, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

That's not the question. The question is could those so called leaps have been made by those individuals if it weren't for the foundation that others laid down before them? Also I don't think any invention has ever been the exclusive work of one person. They usually have all kinds of peers that inspire, lend ideas, etc.

Here's the MORONS claim.

SpheresOfBalance wrote:

Not only has he not even bothered to discover the name of the inventor (it's DA not DI vinci), he made the most childish mistake of not even looking into the detail of this myth.
Clearly The Moron gets his facts from The History Channel.

Italy did not "launch" the first aircraft, because Leonardo did not build one, neither would it have worked had he done so.
Not even if he had the benefits of Silk, Nylon, Carbon Fibres, Aluminium or any other modern material.
Leonardo's (ahem!) "invention" did not even begin an evolution of aircraft in ANY sense.
Leonardo's sketches were for an human powered ORNITHOPTER; not any kind of aircraft that can work.

The "design" was nothing more than whimsy. Based on his anatomical knowledge of bird wings.

SO flap off you git!

This is a very stupid slam, because we're all of limited intelligence and etiquette, and as such, you're the pot calling the kettle black!

I see that you've tried to save face, against the facts, so obviously stacked against you, but have so miserably failed to do so. You have stated that some definitions are not relevant, yet have not explained why, and I know why you haven't, because you can't do so coherently.

Thank you HC, it's been fun as usual! ;-)

Of course as always, I hope this finds you healthy, happy and wise! (as much as can be expected of you)

Anyone can make a spelling error, while only losers call attention to it, as if some kind of major victory, they can then claim. Evidence of how much they've lost?? To scramble for the smallest of crumbs?? And to think that you have actually waved your, "I'm superior flag," 'I want my own PNF logon section for serious intellectuals that are better than the rest.' Come on now, in truth it's really that you don't like your arguments challenged; as much as one can actually call them arguments, that is.

Oh, and by the way, you make tons of spelling errors, but I have as yet, to rub your nose in it.

Look HC I like you, but we wouldn't be in this mess if you hadn't shit on equality amongst people all that time ago, in our very first meeting, I believe it was.

As for the rest, as usual my point went right over your head, which is that knowledge is and shall ever be a-posteriori. That humans build on the base of knowledge that came before them, thus no one can truly claim exclusive credit for anything! Breakthroughs are always the culmination of various past and/or current works.

I was being both funny and trying to make a point.

Peace, my friend!

hardly the main point, just an indication that you rely on rumour rather then research. Had you bothered to investigate your silly claim, you might have noticed it was DA Vinci.
