In recent times there have been budget impasse in the Congress. This reminds me of philosophers who can't agree on anything and the people are fed up with the politicians.

Accountability laws that require judicially acceptable reasons why politicians will not follow through with promises given during election writs, with recall and pay clawback as deterrents.
