I’m taking a break from this stuff for awhile. I have some stories to write.

It just so happens that I've recently made my greatest hits available on YouTube.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgTkbM ... klHlJk-giwGreta wrote: Yup Alfie, I have tons of music online. Music was pretty well my life for a long time.
That's an odd coincidence - I never realised that we both play jazz influenced instrumental guitar rock. Small world, eh? Love the imaginative song titles ho ho. Nice sound and style, kind of spacious.Harbal wrote:It just so happens that I've recently made my greatest hits available on YouTube.https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgTkbM ... klHlJk-giwGreta wrote: Yup Alfie, I have tons of music online. Likely she saw the truth.Greta wrote:Thanks for your kind words, Walker. Well done with the transaction with the woman driver. Through you she saw the folly and triviality of these kinds of spats. Nice.
Cosmik Debris is a favourite from my youth - I love Frank when he's not being disgustingIf you're an Uncle Frank fan you'll love this concert by his son Dweezil's band - Zappa Plays Zappa. They are outstanding: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8Jz4UH2_8U
Yes, Hal Galper's talks are all about psychology and philosophy. Another instructor who is just as brilliant, if more unconventional, is Kenny Werner, who released a book called Effortless Mastery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un3p614XExc
While they use different methods, each instructor is trying to help students to reliably achieve a flow state when playing. When you play an instrument, after the first rush of love wears off it can be difficult to have any control over achieving a flow state while playing because of the defensive ego judging and criticising each bar of the music. A bit like a relationship, really. In performance you are supposed to throw away much of your critical faculty and risk making a fool of yourself and unselfconsciously throw yourself into it, trusting that your practice and experience will come through. Easier said than done when you have a lot of curious hominid eyes trained on you.
I like it.Greta wrote: Here's a song we did that my jam pal and I recorded at home that's probably closest to your style
Of course you would - it's closest to your style ;)Harbal wrote:I like it.Greta wrote: Here's a song we did that my jam pal and I recorded at home that's probably closest to your style
Anything that isn't a guitar or bass is computer generated. I've just finished directing a video, it's in the editing stage at the moment and is due for release in about a week. I'd be interested in your opinion when it's finished.Greta wrote:Harbal wrote: Are you playing all instruments on your tunes and programming a drum machine?
Hope this isn't a double post. Not sure if my last one was lost or I screwed up.Harbal wrote:Anything that isn't a guitar or bass is computer generated. Neither do I. It's an animation and I've only managed to grasp the basics of how to use the software but I think you'll be impressed.Greta wrote: I know bugger all about moviemaking,
