Re: Be Detached
Air... (I am asking these questions respectfully, simply as an exploratory process)... Why would God create or manifest a soul and then put it into a difficult world to test its desire to regain its original source? If that soul is part of god, then this sounds like god is into his own self-delusion and torture. If that soul is a separate part from god, then this sounds like god is playing a cruel game (like a lab experiment) -- putting a mouse in a cage to see if it can figure out how to get back out. And if god needs the soul element to return to him, it sounds like god has some sort of need for there to be proof that he is loved and worshipped enough. It doesn't make sense to me that a god would be like this. Rather, it sounds like ideas that humans would make up because they don't know how to explain things any other way.AiR wrote: The soul is a part of the creator. It is a manifestation of God. The plan of God seems to be such that the soul is put in this world, which is full of attractions and cravings, to test its desire to regain its original source. Therefore, it is the purpose of the soul on earth to realize the truth - what it is and what it must aspire for, and finally that it must go back to God.
If these ideas provide direction and meaning for you, that's great! But when you proclaim them publicly as you do, as if "this is how it is", they have to stand up to some questions and discussion, right? Otherwise, we're just being "talked at"... not communicated with. I'm sure you understand... and I do have the impression that you mean to inspire and uplift people. That is my nature too. However, for very good reasons, many people (including myself) are suspicious of human fabrications... because human fabrications seem to permeate and distort EVERYTHING. So I feel compelled to question when anyone (including myself) says they have/know "the answers". So MANY say they do... and I can see the human fabrications wrapped up in all of it. Rather than being told "how it is", what's inspiring to me is to hear why it has meaning for you. Can you share some of that?

Yeah. I think you are right. They look pretty attached to their dreadlocks & make-up.
In a more philosophical vein, shouldn't we focus more upon becoming attached?
Far as I know, we need to be attached to this world before we could ever hope of being able to Let Go!
