The Shah was a monster, and a puppet of the Western Powers. His misrule led to the Revolution. Maybe if Mohammad Mosaddegh had stayed in power his full term and Iran had kept control of its oil interests, democracy may have thrived and grown. But the Anglo/America oil interests wishing to keep Russia out of Persia led to the coup. You would have been born into a different country - one that has not suffered from sanctions. When pressed from the outside, oppression works on the inside too.

The deal is seen as something very positive here, and the rise of IS (ISIS, ISIL) in Iraq is taken as an opportunity to talk with Iran as you are against the IS. So from a bad thing some good can be found.
It is only Israel that is still making negative propaganda against Iran, and claiming that you will use nuclear weapons to support IS which is stupid. And American Conservatives who still would prefer to attack Iran because of the hostage situation back in the 1980s.

That's nice to hear that you have political info about Iran , but The Shah was not as monster as the new ones . I think America saw Iran's power as a threat (Iran was the 5th military power) like Russia . America didn't want a 3rd opponent and helped the Islamic revolution to happen as Mr. Reagan said in one of his interviews (That's one of the ways America keeps the power and controls the world .)
And thanks for the latest news on BBC . :)
I just don't want Iran to be like N Korea .

Welcome to the forum, and I would guess that most of the active participants are from the UK or the US. Good luck on getting good answers.
Thanks thedoc .

Thanks Henry . I think In this site there is lack of "Religious" and In our city's philosophy college there is lack of "Unbeliever" ! so imbalanced .

Welcome to the forum, Dissident. This comment caught my eye.

Your country produced the most enlightened philosopher/mathematicians in the history of science, one of whom also happened to be one of the greatest poets in the history of literature. I refer to Ghiyath ad-Din Abu'l-Fath 'Umar ibn Ibrahim al-Khayyam Nishapuri. He has been my single biggest influence in a lifetime devoted to philosophy and I will honour his wisdom until my dying day.

However your ancestors were certainly long-winded when it came to naming their kids so usually I just call him Omar Khayyam, as he came to be known in the west.

There are translations, if you're interested. He was a 10th-11th century skeptic and atheist.

Yeah I read the article and my sister told me a bit about him . that he was so skeptic about everything . and also too pessimist about everything and everyone ... maybe because he became blind .

One good reason. Why does she say 'too' pessimistic? Should he have been less so? Why? Anyways, I merely mention him. Read what you will, as though you need my permission. Lol!

By the way, when did scepticism become a bad thing? Aren't all philosophers sceptical by nature? Always questioning? And shouldn't we all be?
