A second chance to develop on a sustainable track, yes. Though it won't be necessary to go back to the stone age. If there are any human survivors of the X-event (economic collapse, blackout, superbug, superstorm, WWIII - whichever comes first), they will have a great deal of reference material in book form and at least some intact infrastructure. Possibly enough to learn what to avoid next time....
But i'm not very optimistic. Human gullibility and myopia are powerful forces.

Why are you bringing up the GE plant in Evendale, which has nothing to do with any teacher's union?

A union is pretty much a union, I know of no union that attempts to force companies to accept individual workers that are a detriment to the companies welfare.

Aren't you going to ask me how I know about the GE plant in Evendale? Anyway, a jet engine worker who can't cut it will definitely be fired, but teachers who can't cut it go on forever with tenure and union support.
