Philosophically, why wouldn't people push for Personhood For Apes BEFORE corporations?



Not to be too scientific but aren't we all of the same Hominoid family of great apes?


The family Hominidae consists of gorillas, chimpanzees, orangutans, and Humans, collectively known as the "great apes".

There is serious consideration being given,here in the uk, to giving chimps something like human rights, but this is only happening, AFAIK, in some moral-philosophy think tanks. Still it's a start.

Your classification models are pretty much human constructions whereas DNA shows a different Tree of Life.

Breaking in Boston: animal rights activists today filed a First Amendment challenge to the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (“AETA”), which reportedly makes it a “terrorism” crime, among other things, to “intentionally damage[] or cause[] the loss of any real or personal property (including animals or records) used by an animal enterprise.”



The plaintiffs allege that the AETA chills them from advocating publicly for the rights of animals – a lawful activity that, naturally, stands to cause “animal enterprises” like Glaxo or Ruth’s Chris to lose “property” in the form of business profits.
