It has been years since I tried VMware, and at that time, it did not seem that the cost of it was worth the trouble. However, now that they have released the reigns on it, and one can acquire it free. I decided to check it out again.
Now, Virtualbox, has, at least for me, a very troubling problem which has persisted throughout its development, not in regard to any serious part of my work, but in the amusement area, that of my running video's in the background. It has never been reliable in keeping the video and the sound in sync.
But, on trying VMware, it seem it does it effortlessly. No syncing problem.
So, I deleted all my running Virtualboxes and replaced them with VMware. I built seven for what I call annoyance boxes, i.e., ones to watch video programming on, and two, which read my audiobooks straight from Word. I can correct any OCR artifacts, or formatting when I notice it on the fly.
I therefore wasted yesterday in that endeavor, and am back on track with my projects. In short, I removed the stress of bad syncing.
So, VM has taken on Oracle in cost, and this will change the dynamics of which VM comes out on top. So far, it looks like VM is going to win this one, especially for those who like a spot of entertainment going on while working.
