Re: new pope
It'll be interesting to see whether their choice of Pope continues along the path of Pope Francis or if the Vatican changes direction. There seemed to be a lot of controversy among Catholics in the US over Pope Francis' views, for obvious reasons.Impenitent wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 5:33 pm https://abcnews.go.com/International/li ... =121506573

Re: new pope
Seems a bit of a boring one. I was hoping it would be that other American, the one who has spoken out about the islamification of Europe.
Re: new pope
The Catholics could have chosen an Asian, black, or Hispanic representative of God on earth, but I do not think that they ever will. By the way, this man was not infallible until yesterday. I wonder how he feels, now that Mr. Omniscient knows everything without fail?

No one says the pope is 'omnicient'.

Re: new pope
From what I have read, the new Pope was (likely) recommended for selection by Francis. And that he will continue, perhaps with greater restraint and circumspection, the general ultra-modernist policies of Francis.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Thu May 08, 2025 5:50 pm

The “controversy” among Traditionalist is quite on the fringe. Most Catholics welcomed Francis’ progressivism.

Re: new pope
I've seen some videos posted by people who might qualify as "alt-right" where they accused Francis of being the anti-christ or something. My understanding is that the alt-right wasn't entirely happy with him. Maybe I'm wrong.Alexis Jacobi wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 2:03 amFrom what I have read, the new Pope was (likely) recommended for selection by Francis. Re: new pope
I don't think many people take any notice of the pope
Re: new pope
Yeah, it is obviously necessary to vote for who is going to be the next representative of God on earth. I wonder why they did not vote for me? If I win the elections, I will be infallible !!!Alexis Jacobi wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 2:03 amFrom what I have read, the new Pope was (likely) recommended for selection by Francis. Re: new pope
Probably not, unless they are Catholic. Most in the US are protestant but Catholicism is maybe a not too distant second (or was last time I checked). I encountered a few people on the Internet who were self-described members of the alt-right and Catholic. They all seemed to have something against Pope Francis, perhaps because they were Americans. Francis seemed to be a patron of the marginalized people of the Earth more so than previous Popes. Not something that white supremacists in the US seem to be fond of, I guess. \_('_')_/
Re: new pope
You too can become the representative of God on earth! Go and chat with the cardinals, and talk them into it. If the new guy could do it, then you can do it too!Gary Childress wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 3:16 amProbably not, unless they are Catholic. You will magically become infallible. Everything that comes out of your mouth, will automatically deemed to be true. You will finally become like me !!!
By the way, the first thing I would do, if I were you, is to jump on the plane and fly to the Philippines. They will crawl over each other to kiss the ground on which you walk and extensively lick your toes, if they manage to get close enough.
My first decision as the new representative of God on earth would be to move the Holy See from Rome to Manila. It is better to be God on earth in a place where they actually believe that you are! Seriously, fuck the Italians. They are no good. They don't truly believe! Seriously, I would move to the Philippines instead.

I suppose it's not too much different than what the Dalai Lama is to Buddhism. I think I saw it mentioned that Pope Francis recommended the current guy before Francis died. Otherwise, the whole tado is no more than a subject of idle curiosity to me. I don't pay all that much attention to the Vatican either.godelian wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 3:37 amYou too can become the representative of God on earth! But then again, the job title is still a fantastic tool to bamboozle illiterate peasants in the Philippines with. They will believe everything you say, and even more. There's still not one TikTok influencer who can match his reach and influence, in terms of followers, likes, and channel subscriptions. The fake representative of God on earth is still absolutely undefeated !

You are not wrong “in spirit”.Gary Childress wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 2:33 am I've seen some videos posted by people who might qualify as "alt-right" where they accused Francis of being the anti-christ or something. But Alt-Right isn’t the right term.
Traditionalist, anti-Modernist, anti-Vatican ll — these are terms that define those who opposed Francis.
There are however some who could be defined as “Alt-Right” who oppose Catholic Progressivism. But that term is passé anyway.
