While the upper class marries for essentially dynastic reasons, the lower class for pressing real-life economic reasons, the middle class is typically in the grip of the delusion that marrying for romantic reasons would make sense.
Of course, it does not.
Mere infatuation is a fleeting and ephemeral emotional state that disappears after the honeymoon phase is over.
It is obvious that you should not make any important life decision based on emotions, but that is exactly what the middle class tends to do.
They keep making poor temporary alliances that cannot withstand the vagaries of life.
By the time they finally get their epiphany, and that reality finally dawns upon them, their prime age for marriage is already over, and they can no longer find a decent spouse.
The next generation of middle class children typically ends up in the lower precariat class.
The child of a so-called strong, independent, and divorced middle-class single mother is often a fatherless beggar, a criminal, or a prostitute, who dies at a young age from a drug overdose.
The middle class disappears because its members are delusional. The larger the middle class, the more delusional the country as a whole. Welcome to the staunchly middle-class fentanyl crisis, which is certainly not Canada's fault.

Well, isn't it time to impose new tariffs on Canada? It's obviously their fault, isn't it?Impenitent wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 3:24 am what kind of panty needs to be shielded from the vagaries of life?

So you'd predict that the middle class would have the highest divorce rate among economic classes, right?godelian wrote: ↑Sun Mar 02, 2025 2:52 am While the upper class marries for essentially dynastic reasons, the lower class for pressing real-life economic reasons, the middle class is typically in the grip of the delusion that marrying for romantic reasons would make sense.

Re: The middle class always disappears
On western territory, every single married woman gets incentivized to leave with cash and prizes, irrespective of social class.
That is one, major reason for divorce.
It simply pays.
If the former husband cannot (or does not want to pay), then the welfare state will.
Hence, divorce is not just related to the middle class and its frivolous delusions. That is indeed only one factor.
One major benefit of living in SE Asia is the fact that women cannot benefit from blowing up their marriage. That is also one good reason why they usually don't.
Another simple countermeasure, besides avoiding the middle class, and avoiding western territory, is never to buy a house to live in with a woman. You can avoid a lot of disputes by doing that. When push comes to shove, you just cancel the rental contract. Furthermore, there is no real need to live together under one roof to begin with. In my opinion, it is more trouble than it's worth.
Relationships are still somewhat possible, even in modern times, certainly theoretically, but you need to preemptively implement an entire battery of countervailing measures. For every possible attack, you must have a defense ready. If you can't, it is preferable to stay alone until you can.
