Any philosophical position that doesn't unilateraly accept transcendental objective values (e.g objective morals), and chooses to be skeptical about them ultimately self-defeats its own ability to make objective evaluations about anything.
Evaluation is a cognitive process. It requires values to function - can't evaluate without values.
If said cognitive process is to make any evaluations deemed "objective" (such as the objective truth-value), then its functionality necessarily depends on the existence of objective values.
The claim "snow is objectively white" is predicated on the implicit claim that the evaluation utilizes objective values.
Thus any claim such as "There are no objective values, but snow is objectively white," is a performative contradiction.

In some cases where people want so desperately for reality to be different than it is, they may try to pretend their subjective values are objective morals for all to follow.Skepdick wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:08 am Any philosophical position that doesn't unilateraly accept transcendental objective values (e.g objective morals), and chooses to be skeptical about them ultimately self-defeats its own ability to make objective evaluations about anything.

And in other cases, people so desperately want to be followed they pretend to know how "reality is". You can't have your objective truth from subjective values cake, and eat it too.

Good point. Generally, when it comes to reality, the more confident someone is that it is a certain way, the more I question if they thought it through to consider other perspectives.

A transcendental objective value is the transformation of a subjective state into a broader one. There can be a subjective truth that expands across the experience of others.Skepdick wrote: ↑Fri Jan 31, 2025 10:08 am Any philosophical position that doesn't unilateraly accept transcendental objective values (e.g objective morals), and chooses to be skeptical about them ultimately self-defeats its own ability to make objective evaluations about anything.

The problem of subjectivity is less of it being subjective and more about its range of experience. For example one subjective state says "I want more money so I steal". If the subjective state expands and observes "I want more money but if I steal it hurts me in the respect it makes me lazy and it hurts the society I am dependent upon so it would be better if I worked" than there is still a subjective morality but the awareness becomes broader and more holistic.
