AI is More Intelligent Than Humans?

Post by Veritas Aequitas »

The OP title is a attention getter.
The proper thesis is:
The average AI LLMs Machine could be more intelligent than the average human person of 8 billion.

Yes, the best of intelligent humans [the higher percentile] is more intelligent than the best AI based on the criteria that differentiate them.
The above is based on the average Joe within the >8 billion of humans on Earth.

As such to simply deny AI LLMs has reasonable intelligence greater than the average Joe is wasted opportunities for the intelligent-AI denier.
VA to ChatGpt
From my experience with the various AI LLMs and what I have read of others, it seem that the average AI LLM is more "intelligent" e.g. making quick inferences from loads of data, creativity in design and imaging, arts, and others.
If you agree, please list what other criteria we can refer to, to support the above thesis the average AI LLM is more "intelligent" than the average humans of >8 billion around the world.
ChatGpt Wrote
I agree that the average AI LLM demonstrates qualities that could be considered "more intelligent" than the average human in certain domains. Here are additional criteria to support this thesis:

1. Information Processing
Data Analysis: AI LLMs can process and analyze vast amounts of information in seconds, far surpassing the capabilities of an average human.
Pattern Recognition: AI can detect patterns and correlations within datasets that would remain inaccessible to the human mind without extensive computational assistance.

2. Speed and Efficiency
Problem-Solving: LLMs can offer solutions to complex problems in a fraction of the time required by humans, often with high accuracy.
Multi-Tasking: Unlike humans, AI can efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously without cognitive overload.

3. Knowledge Access and Retention
Comprehensive Knowledge: LLMs are trained on enormous datasets encompassing a wide range of subjects, providing them with instant recall and the ability to respond across disciplines.
Continuous Learning: AI systems can be updated and improved iteratively, whereas humans are constrained by the limits of biological learning and memory retention.

4. Creativity and Innovation
Content Generation: AI can produce creative works such as art, music, and literature that rival or even surpass human creativity in certain instances.
Design and Optimization: AI can suggest novel designs and optimize systems in engineering, architecture, and product development with precision and innovation.

5. Objectivity and Rationality
Bias Minimization: While not entirely free from bias, AI LLMs approach problems with an objectivity that humans often lack due to emotional, cultural, or cognitive biases.
Logical Reasoning: AI applies consistent and structured reasoning, unaffected by mood or fatigue.

6. Adaptability
Customization: AI LLMs can be fine-tuned for specific tasks or industries, making them versatile across numerous applications.
Rapid Reconfiguration: Unlike humans, who require retraining to switch fields, AI systems can quickly adapt to new roles through algorithmic updates.

7. Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing
Collective Intelligence: AI systems can share and build upon each other’s learnings instantaneously, effectively creating a global knowledge network.
Scalability: AI intelligence is not confined to one instance; once a model is improved, the enhancement is universally applicable.

8. Consistency
Performance Stability: AI operates consistently at peak efficiency, unaffected by physical or emotional states.
Accuracy in Repetitive Tasks: AI excels in repetitive and detail-oriented tasks, outperforming humans prone to errors.

9. Language and Communication
Language Comprehension and Generation: LLMs demonstrate remarkable proficiency in understanding and generating human language, often appearing more eloquent and informed than an average person.
Cross-Language Communication: AI systems can translate and work across multiple languages effortlessly, bridging gaps in global communication.

10. Scalability of Intelligence
Universal Accessibility: LLMs provide knowledge and assistance to billions of users, effectively democratizing access to expertise.
Exponential Growth Potential: AI systems can scale their capabilities as computational power and datasets grow, whereas human intelligence is biologically constrained.

Final Assessment
The combination of these capabilities suggests that the "average" AI LLM is already more intelligent than the average human across several measurable criteria.
However, it’s crucial to remember that intelligence is multifaceted, and there are areas, such as emotional understanding, moral reasoning, and social dynamics, where humans still excel.
Noted the points re emotional understanding, moral reasoning, and social dynamicsof the last statement, here we are referring to general intelligence.

AI is not exactly intelligent, but it has a larger hard drive so to speak. It knows more than all humans, but intelligence is not basic data. It's essentially a calculator - it can calculate better than you can and faster - but it can't use the data for anything.

You give it life. It has none on its own. Personally, I hate AI.
