Introduction after a long absense
Introduction after a long absense
Hi.
I first joined this forum as a troubled 15 year old in 2011. Had to create another ID - added an extra 'l' to my name.
After a while, I had other things to do and didn't participate until recently I came across one of my old posts as a result of a google search.
I am a farmer somewhere in the Appalachians, running an organic free-range farm with my wife, my brother and his wife, our kids, and assorted dogs and cats.
At 15 I wanted to study philosophy but now I have an associate degree in horticulture and another in business. But I live in a house with lots of philosophy and theology books so its all good.

Re: Introduction after a long absense
I notice a lot of the same people are still here.
I am curious if anyone has changed their philosophical views in a major way over the years - or majorly changed in some other way
My own views have not changed much (i am a no heller baptist and have been for a while) but people who have not known me since high school have told me I am the calmest person they know.
When I was 15 my meltdowns were so epic they are still a matter of lore passed on to incoming freshmen at my hold high school
(It took court-ordered anger-management classes, prayer, introspection, and just plain old fashioned growing up to get to where I am now, in terms of having some self-control.)

Glad to hear you have found some inner peace. I always thought you were non theist.Kaylla wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 7:16 pm I notice a lot of the same people are still here.

I don't think I have changed much in the way I think about life & reality (philosophically)..but am definitely a lot wiser and have gained a lot of extra knowledge in those years.
I just looked up this 'no heller' version of Christianity..
Goggle: The “No-Hellers” of central Appalachia are the Primitive Baptist Universalists (PBU), a sub-denomination of the Primitive Baptist. They reject the idea of an angry God who dishes out punishment and retribution. Rather they embrace a “happy God” in whom all will ultimately enter into harmony with.
RE The red bit, ya I've experienced rather contrary to that, mind U it was always dished out after two weeks of peace after "eating" of the Tree of Know_Ledge...then GOD\sage would state "You've crossed the line" ..and three months of hell would ensue. The last two times I was fool enough to return to the tree, I copped six months. So I decided to leave those 'friends' that still carried the 'fruit' with them in my company. Now, pretty much HEAVE_N

This makes one wonder if this one even realized the absolute contradiction in its words, here.attofishpi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:29 pmGlad to hear you have found some inner peace. Re: Introduction after a long absense
What do you mean, exactly, by 'philosophical views'?
What is the difference between 'one's own views' and 'one's own philisophical views', to you, exactly?
What were you having so-called 'melt doesn't for, exactly?
What are the things that you, still, do not yet have self control over, exactly?
And, what is a 'no heller baptist', to you, exactly?
If 'it' is some thing like what "attofishpi" wrote in red above, here, then God, Itself, has NEVER been 'angry' and only does what leads to you human beings living in peace and in harmony with ALL, as One, anyway.
Re: Introduction after a long absense
How exact do you want me to be.
Philosophical views are the kind of views that cannot be backed by what people often call 'facts'.
For example, I think smoking is bad for you - but that is a philosophical view, there are factual reasons to believe this.
I also believe it is wrong to mug old ladies - but there are no facts about this that point directly at the wrongness. That is a philosophical view.
See above.
What exactly do you mean by 'exactly' anyways?
All kinds of reasons, often very inexact ones.
I dont deal well with pain, and cry at sad movies, i have a strong startle reflex. Sometimes, for no reason at all, I worry about something horrible happening to my kids. I often fail to control cravings for chocolate.
Is this exact enough?
We are like regular Baptists except that we do not believe in eternal punishment, and instead believe that everyone - even Satan and Hitler - will eventually be reconciled iwth God.

Re: Introduction after a long absense
Exact as you can be, thanks.
I'm confused now. If 'philosophical views' can not be backed up by 'facts', and the 'smoking is bad for you' view' can be backed up by 'facts' or 'factual reasons', why then is 'this view' a 'philosophical view', exactly?
Although there are facts about why it is Wrong to so-call 'mug' anyone, how are both of 'your views', above here, both 'philosophical views' to you, exactly?
Firstly, thank you clarifying questions, they are very refreshing when they appear.
What, exactly, do I mean when I use the 'exactly' word, here, is to answer and clarify in the most Accurate way possible.
Okay, but none that you would like to divulge, here, right?
If, and when, you take over and have full control of these things then 'you' will not be a human being any more. 'you' will have transgressed and evolved up and into the next 'level' along the continual evolution of Life, Itself.
I would have thought that 'worrying' about some thing horrible happening to human children would just be a natural and very normal response from, and for, a loving and caring responsible adult human beings.
After all taking care of, guiding, and protecting, or just loving, children, of the human species, is more or less, exactly, what the role of being an adult human being really is anyway, is it not?
Those 'cravings' only exist because of what is missing in your life.
Yes thank you. And, it is great to see Honest answers and clarification. They are very rare indeed, here, in this forum. They also help tremendously in 'moving along', here.
The first part is absolutely True, and the second part has already begun.

If reconciled with GOD means being turned into 666 a beast then sure, Hitler has probably already been digested and reconciled to shit by now.

Re: Introduction after a long absense
you are claiming that so-called 'eating of the tree of knowledge' is Wrong, bad, and punishable. While also claiming that you are wiser, from 'eating of the tree of knowledge'.attofishpi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 3:54 am..do I do I do I..ah f'it, in for a penny in for a pound.Age wrote: ↑Wed Dec 04, 2024 1:43 amThis makes one wonder if this one even realized the absolute contradiction in its words, here.attofishpi wrote: ↑Tue Dec 03, 2024 9:29 pm
