I've seen a fair number, especially recently, though the one I am most glad I got to experience was Burt Bacharach.

One of the advantages of living in a place like London is that everyone comes to town, so I've seen all sorts: Ennio Morricone, The Kinks, Led Zeppelin, Frank Zappa, The Who, Black Sabbath, James Brown, AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Motorhead, The Police, The Damned, The Stranglers, Rush, Thin Lizzy and hundreds more.

I lived in San Antonio from 1979-1996
between San Antonio and Austin, everyone and their uncle Bob played in this area at least 3 times
Saxon (Denim and Leather, Strong arm of the law, Power and the Glory, Crusader, Innocence is no excuse, Solid ball of rock), AC/DC (For those about to rock, Fly on the wall, Razor's edge), Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath (with Dio and Ian Gillian), Motorhead, Rush, Metallica, Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, Sammy Hagar, Van Halen, Ronnie James Dio, Billy Squier, UFO, Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Los Lobos, Fabulous Thunderbirds, San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, and quite a few more

I did see, although I must admit we paid little attention to Nirvana at Reading festival in 1991 - about 6 weeks later they were chart topping megastars, but at the time they were Mudhoney's support band and only really known for one song about his granny's mashed potatoes. Iggy Pop headlined that same festival and he's pretty famous though. I saw Blur at some crappy dive in Camberwell around the same time, they were also only known for one song in those days, it was a bland madchester ripoff song, and I thought they were complete rubbish.
I saw the Flaming Lips about 20 times, I believe they became pretty famous after changing songwriters so I lost interest in them, which seems to be a move all music accountants would recommend. Other than that, I can offer Siouxsie and the Banshees, Sonic Youth, Jesus and Mary Chain, Hawkwind, Sisters of Mercy, Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine... Billy Bragg (supporting Carter)
I would tell you who I am going to see next, but the band name has a rude word in it and Seeds might get annoyed at he potty mouth stuff.

Re: What famous musicians/bands have you seen perform live?
Around 1990 I lost my shit when I asked a girl that was also packing shelves in a night-fill job what she got up to on the weekend "Oh, I was at the Exeter and saw this band called The Prodigy." I had been into The Prodigy for a short period of time since someone from UK put me onto them - the Exeter is a small very awesome pub in Adl, and if I could build a time machine I'd drop in on that night.
Me and a bunch of mates also lost our shit when we found out a band we had recently stumbled across, Nirvana, had just played at a surf club.
So the bands (i remember): Buffalo Tom, Dinosaur Jr, Smashing Pumpkins, Iggy Pop, Sonic Youth, Ministry, Moby, Madness, Jesus & da Mary Chain, Fatboy Slim, Jesus Jones, Bjork, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, The Foo Fighters, Hole...and The Prodigy.
These Australian bands (i recommend having a listen)..
Spiderbait, Regurgitator, You Am I, Died Pretty (Album- *Doughboy Hollow* - one of the best Oz albums IMO), The Clouds, The Superjesus, Something For Kate, Jebediah (I won a signed guitar), Ratcat.

Nice way to admit you have no taste. Just as well you aren't old enough to have seen the Beatles at The Cavern or you would say they were 'rubbish' tooFlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Thu Jul 25, 2024 9:06 pm I did see, although I must admit we paid little attention to Nirvana at Reading festival in 1991 - about 6 weeks later they were chart topping megastars, but at the time they were Mudhoney's support band and only really known for one song about his granny's mashed potatoes. Bands evolve (they look about twelve in that) and it's still genius compared to what's being churned out today.FlashDangerpants wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 12:27 amThis is Blur from about 1991accelafine wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 12:16 amNice way to admit you have no taste. I am not a time traveller. When I saw Blur in 1991 thy had only the Blur 1991 songs to sing, which were shit, and so I thought they were a rubbish band based on the information that I had. You can now stop inflicting your tedious unhappiness on everything, I am bored of you, run along and bother somebody who cares.accelafine wrote: ↑Fri Jul 26, 2024 1:13 am Bands evolve (they look about twelve in that) and it's still genius compared to what's being churned out today.
