Post by Veritas Aequitas »

So here are 10 Life Lessons From Immanuel Kant -
01. Do not treat others as merely means
02. Fight for freedom
03. Respect animals
04. Act from duty
05. Have your own moral law
06. Never lie
07. Become worthy of happiness
08. Do not base your morality on religion
09. Do not let people step on you
10. Get busy

The above are good life lessons from Kant but points 4, 5 and 6 need to be corrected.

The majority of those who read Kant's moral philosophy did not understand Kant's intention thoroughly.

For Kant, reason [rationality, critical thinking, and wisdom] is primary for morality.

04. Act from duty
Kant proposed humanity must understand what is the universal moral duty inherent in all humans.
In this case, humanity need the scientific FSERC and moral ESERC to establish what are the universal categorical imperatives; however these category imperatives must be not be imposed and enforced on individuals but rather to be taken a guides to facilitate the individual moral progress.
What is duty is like adopting the categorical imperative as 'resolutions' or one ideal objective and striving towards the impossible ideal, thus triggering continuous improvements.

05. Have your own moral law
This is not inventing one's own moral law.
What is one's own moral law should be that which is adopted from what is universal to all humans inherent within human nature.
This is why we need to use reason to understand what is universal within human nature.

06.Never lie
This is never absolute in practice.
What is absolute is to adopt the above maxim as a guide, i.e. so that one can be guided to do one's best never to lie'; however, if necessary, then one has to lie but then [humanity] has reflect on how to avoid lying [as much as possible] in the future.

With the above, how could anyone critique Kant's morality as worthless?
