We have to have distractions in order to bear existence. Everyone has them.
One of them could be God.
Thoughts!

Well I’m sure you won’t have any problem finding something else to distract you from your immunity to common sense.

We have to have distractions in order to bear existence.
I have a number of hobbies.
Do I have them in order to "bear existence" or do I have them because I enjoy them or do I have them because 'life' is doing things?
Or is it something else?

You are not doing anything. You are being done.
Can life tell itself nothing is better, or more enjoyable than being alive? the answer is yes, life knows, nothing is better than being alive.

It's hard to say without knowing what your hobbies are.

It isn't about me or what specifically I'm doing.
It's about why someone would consider an activity as a "distraction" or as something adopted to "bear existence".
Why think in those terms?
With respect to God ... some people see God as an integral part of life. God is just there, like gravity is just there.God is not a "distraction" used for some purpose.

Why tell yourself you are enjoying your hobbies? Why think in those terms?
With respect to gravity…why not worship gravity and pray to gravity asking for salvation and forgiveness for our sins?

Notice that when I posted, I did not say (or tell myself) that I enjoyed those hobbies or that enjoyment was the reason I did them. It was open ended.

Yes,why not?

Gravity tries to bring us down to earth, whereas notions of God do just the opposite.
God is not a "distraction" used for some purpose.
But isn't that what fantasy is; a form of distraction?

In that case, I'm guessing your hobbies are something like pigeon racing, and stamp collecting.

Ok let’s just forget about what you did or did not tell yourself about having hobbies.
Ask yourself in the first person singular pronoun… do you need distractions and hobbies in order to enjoy your existence?
Would praying to gravity make one’s life bearable?

To move things along, get a discussion of what distractions are and what "bearing existence" means.
Gravity tries to bring us down to earth, whereas notions of God do just the opposite.
Getting brought down is not always good.
Soaring with the eagles is not always bad.
But isn't that what fantasy is; a form of distraction?
An implicit assumption that God is fantasy.
