Civilization then stagnates. Totalitarian and communist art sucks, but it’s safe for the artist, although integrity suffers, perhaps only for awhile.

Agreed. To be fair, if a balance of acceptance to certain socialist functions coexisted with a means for 'incentives' that are capped at the top with a minimal set of all necessities assured for each person, then it might not be as horrible. We are all 'greedy' and so would exploit advantages on any side of political issues. But pure capitalism certainly exploits. And given we don't have the limits, our Western ideals is quite 'extreme' in contrast to those who require suffering for it.

Then given the contradictions that exist no matter what, a middle ground at least serves to help prevent the abuses? The one problem with constant swapping of the party ideal extremes though FAVOR by default the right because while it takes a long time to set up supporting social services for people, it only takes a simpler move by the opposition to completely undermine it such that the social side would still require starting from scratch each time. It is WHY you witess extremes still prevalent within the left. They are feeling it necessary to ACT like the extremists on the right if only to get a chance to be noticed fairly.

That China has shown promise in moving towards the center as they are becoming more economically viable, proves hopeful, even if they still have a long way to go. We need to move towards more 'central' platforms that can experiment of the advantages on both sides while preventing the extremes. Prosperity is where Communism would be ideal. Yet when one is better off, they no longer want to embrace the communal ideals beyond their own families.
