Why a class system is necessary, part x: The argument from prediction: Knowing where we are tells us literally nothing about where we're going without understanding something about where we came from and how we got here. Being in charge of things requires broad intellectual understandings that have accurate predictive power. People who desire their lives to be embedded in the moment do not have the requisite outlook, motivations, or skills necessary to be entrusted with powers that have significant effects on fundamental aspects of others' lives.
