post-colonialist capitalism

When humanity expands into space, liberty is dead forever. Literally everything in space is already owned and perfectly controlled by a government/corporate entity and when space stuff becomes bigger than Earth stuff, which will happen quickly because space has infinite room for viral expansion, Earth will be forced down exactly that path. Without a Black Swan event, there will be a price tag on every molecule of air. All of this assumes that we survive at all.

you mean to say that gettin' off earth in a real way will end liberty for folks who stay behind, yeah?

then, you may be right
when space travel becomes ubiquitous folks will go, in droves, I think
why stay when the possibility of all kinds of community and solitude are out there?
successful out-migration would leave the timid, the parochial, and the incapable behind, to be lorded over, not by capitalists, but statists

indeed, at least till some bright soul genengineers an algae-based renewable (
oxy-green: we make canned air obsolete!)
frontiers always bring hard-to-control, hard-to-anticipate, innovation...workarounds & kludges & and out & out
they said it couldn't be done but I done it anyway solutions

But what percentage of times that someone says "It can't be done!" can it actually not be done?

By accounting primarily for those experiments where unusual success occurs, you ignore the overwhelming number of times that even the best efforts yield terrible results. This is not information upon which to accurately predict future results or choose a plan of action. In other words, it does not fulfill the purpose of knowledge. Availability bias is "look at these exceptions!" where the part about them being exceptions is ignored - using what information is most at hand/most salient is taken as a good prior (starting position) and is counted as more than marginally relevant.
