What is wisdom?

Post by TheVisionofEr »

loose primer on the basic understanding of wisdom in the West amidst the devastation of education as an exhorting to study further:

In the west wisdom is first theoretically broached by Plato's Socrates. The tradition of the sage was long known. However, the figure of the sage lacks the rigor of the dialectic consideration of the status of the phronimos. The theory of the phronimos or of the man of "practical" knowledge is equivalent, at first, to the strange superstition in the West concerning Socrates himself. The one who knows how to act in any situation would be the measure of morality and convention and if their character could be transmitted to others, that is, was teachable, it would serve as the principle of a teaching. On the other hand, sophomos or wisdom as it is theorized in Aristotle is the standard of scientific knowledge about the human being. It is knowledge that corresponds to the need of self knowledge of the human being as what helps the human being.
