A Muslim is ..?

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

A Muslim is ..?

Post by Veritas Aequitas »

As inferred from the 6236 verses of the Quran - the ultimate authoritative texts of Islam,

a Muslim is a person who;
  • 1. Has surrendered and submitted Allah.

    2. Has entered into a personal contract [covenant] with Allah via the Shahada thus to believe in Allah as the only God and Muhammad is The Final Messenger.

    3. The contractual terms are stipulated within the 6236 verses of the Quran and no where else. The Ahadiths and Sira are merely the supporting texts to the Quran.

    4. The promise of Allah in the contract to the Muslims is the offer of eternal life in paradise and to protect the Muslim on Earth against threats.

    5. The obligation of the Muslim is to comply with all the terms of the contract within the 6236 verses of the Quran to the best of his/her ability. Example a Muslim need not go to war against infidels if the Muslim is a handicap without legs.

    6. A Muslims has deliberately accepted [reverted] to be a slave of Allah.
The bolded terms are very critical in the discussion of Islam and Muslims.
The regular definition of a Muslim do not include nor emphasize the above terms. Note from Wiki;
  • Muslims are people who follow or practice Islam, a monotheistic Abrahamic religion. Muslims consider the Quran, their holy book, to be the verbatim word of God as revealed to the Islamic prophet and messenger Muhammad.
What is most critical from my point is the a personal contract [covenant] a Muslim has signed with Allah.
This is a very serious personal divine contract where non-compliance of the terms could sent a Muslim to the eternal burning Hell.

Thus whenever the term 'Muslim' is brought up, the personal contract with Allah must be highlighted.

Re:
2. Has entered into a personal contract [covenant] with Allah via the Shahada thus to believe in Allah as the only God and Muhammad is The Final Messenger.

Here are some [among many] of the supporting verses of the imperative personal divine contract [covenant] a Muslim had entered with Allah;
  • 5:7. Remember Allah's grace upon you and His covenant by [WThQ -mithaq] which He bound you [Muslims] when ye said: We hear and we obey; and keep your duty to Allah. Allah knoweth what is in the breasts (of men).

    6:152. … … and [10] fulfil the covenant [3HD; ahdan] of Allah. This He commandeth you that haply ye [Muslim] may remember [tadhakkarūna].

    13:20. Such as [1] keep the pact [convenant] of Allah, and break not the covenant [MThQ; Mīthāqa];

    57:8. …. He hath already made a covenant [MThQ; Mīthāqakum] with you, if ye [as Muslims] are believers [Muslims] [ AMN; mu'minīna ا م ن]?
Thus the personal contract a Muslim has to sign with Allah is a very critical factor in the definition of being Muslim.

The problem with the majority or even all Muslims is they are not aware they are bounded by a personal contract they have signed with Allah and thus are contractually bound to comply with every command of Allah.

Therefore if the Quran commanded all Muslims to war against and kill non-Muslims [evidence provided] then the Muslim is compelled to carry out the above commands else the Muslim will end up in Hell.

The fact is there are Muslims [SOME] who understand their contractual obligations and thus warred against and killed non-Muslims as commanded to ensure they receive their rewards of eternal life in paradise on Judgement Day and assured of avoiding Hell.
