Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

The Psychology of Theism

Post by Veritas Aequitas »

My hypothesis;
  • 1. Theism is basically driven by psychology. i.e. existential elements.
    2. The trend is the cons of theism are outweighing the pros of theism.
    3. The only way to resolve the cons of theism is via psychology.
Agree?

....
Nb: the above 1-3 are very loaded items where each may involve several separate thesis to expounded them.

In the case of 3, Buddhism had already initiated the psychological approach to deal with theism 2,500 years ago. That was too advanced for its age and Buddhism had to be dressed up as a religion and compromising its core principles to accommodate the range of psychological states of its believers.
Religions has their own negative baggage and these should be dealt with.

The following are the obvious clues why Theism is driven by psychology:

1. The willingness of believers willing to kill or even commit genocides in the name of their religion, God and founder [prophet]. Even the drawings of cartoons could trigger SOME believers to kill the artists and their associates.

2. The latest glaring evident is the protection of the wounded feelings of believers in terms of blasphemy laws.
The Pakistan Penal Code, the main judicial law of Pakistan, prohibits blasphemy (Urdu: قانون توہین رسالت‎) against any recognized religion, providing penalties ranging from a fine to death.

Section 298:
Uttering of any word or making any sound or making any gesture or placing of any object in the sight with the deliberate intention of wounding the religious feelings of any person.

Note the number of Nations with Blasphemy Laws;

Another critical point is;
If God exists as real and is all powerful in being capable of creating the Universe and delivering his message via a messenger/prophet, why does God need lowly and infallible humans' assistance to prevent humans from insulting God?
