There is a built in mechanism in the "universe": Anti Hubris.
When you say that something will never happen. It will!
When you say that something will always happen. It will not!
I have tested it intentionally, but it only works unintended. So you can't use it.
But pay attention next time life screws your hubris. It never fails!

On the other hand, sometimes things turn out amazingly well, i.e., justly. So the reverse of what you say is also the case.

I believe it depends on the attitude.
If an athlete trains hard to become the best, and says he/she will win that competition, the prediction is not based on hubris, but on selv confidence and hard training.
