This forum seems to have breathed its spirit out. There are no interesting threads... the only liveliness is maintained by a lot of personal bitching based on personality traits and on conceived or preconceived notions.

Sort of boring.

Flat.

Like a glass of Pepsi that has been sitting out too long.

The Philosophy Inspector appears, and the forum does not pass inspection.

But, never mind that.

A rare opportunity like this doesn’t come along every day.

Three questions for the authority.

Who are we, where did we come from, and where are we going?

Of course, "where are we going" isn't in reference to the public transportation scheduling, or where a driverless car will take you, although that would be a nice metaphor.

There was that sexily-dressed women post, which had great potential, but a PC advocate came along and buzzkilled it.

If the authority is listening then my suggestion is that since the subscribers to the PN magazine pay for this forum it should be restricted to only those who subscribe to the magazine.

Hobbes and his yellow avatar need to come back, Harbal should stop flitting in and out of existence and make up his mind, and a real flat-earther would be interesting and liven things up.

Perhaps it should be restricted to actual subscribers; however, paying for a subscription does not ensure that a person is capable of rational thinking. It also overlooks those of us who buy an occasional magazine off of a news stand at a higher price because we don't want an entire subscription, but prefer selected specific magazines that address topics that interest us. I assume some of those purchases also help to finance this forum.

I think the potential was all yours. Hence, excitement.

All these ancients: Plato, Socrates, Arstotal, and the modern ones, Kant, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche and the rest, they wrote about ideal beauty, symmetry, etc. etc., but they all froze up and awkwardly gulped down their honey-beer when a babe walked by.

It took a Wilt Chamberlain and a Mick Jagger to remind us guys and gals of an alternative philosophy of sex: lively, with gusto and a wild abandon, and exclusive of course of complexes, Freud, and Queen Victoria.
