Rock and Roll

Post by duszek »

In a film with Inspector Barnaby the latter was enthusiastic about rock and roll music, he tried to play the guitar again, he did not suspect a rock and roll musician of a murder (but at the end he finally realized that it was exactly him who did it).

I am puzzled by this enthusiasm, they are loud, insulting, unleashed etc. but they are fascinating to a lot of us because they are free like small children ?

Any thoughts ?

You sound ambiguous, Harbal.

Why are you puzzled by my post ?
Because everybody should be enthusiastic by rock and roll music ?

I would like to understand the secret behind them or attached to them.

I would like to understand why so many people are fascinated by rock and roll music and rock and roll musicians.

I hope that some people here love rock and roll and can share with me.

How would a rock and roll lover explain his passion to someone from a different culture ?

Jazz music appeals to me, not all of it, but a lot of it.

Could it be that a person must have some mental defect if rock and roll does not appeal to them ?

Feel free to insult me in a rock and roll fashion, perhaps that will give me a clue what the secret of r.a.r. is.

“It has to burn from the first bar.” – Sting
… and for the duration.

Living in such fullness has an appeal to the mind and imagination as a principle, and some aspire to realize the ideal of the principle. Rock n’rollers, and air-guitarists both.

Burning from the first bar takes different forms in different times. For instance, the bar might be understood to be a pub.

Pre-electric burning.

A more detailed explanation.

When it was named, rock n roll went beyond cultural boundaries of propriety. It was perceived as dangerous and passion-inflaming to easily inflamed youth, and as historians know, channeled cultural movements change history by focusing human attention through revolution of one sort or another. There’s always a revolution going on somewhere, quiet or loud. Back then someone found a way to cash in the principle.

Maybe it would help if you named the film with "Barnaby: whoever the fuck he is?

You're overlooking people who have been fascinated by Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby e.g. It seems though the younger you are, the more likely you're going to be fascinated.

It may be argued that entertainers from the Rock and Roll era were more prominent than those from the Jazz era. I believe that TV was a big factor towards this where many more potential fans could be reached.

I think he means an episode of Midsomer Murders.

Are you talking about rock music in general, or 'rock and roll'? Rock music encompasses an extremely broad and vague area.

Duszek's OP makes it plain that it's rock and roll he/she is talking about. What would make you think it's otherwise?
