Has anyone heard about the problem at forums.philosophyforums.com?

Someone from here recommended I check this site out before. I signed up and then a few months ago, it simply deteriorated as though the 'owners' died and some bugs have been slowly consuming it. I am asking only to determine if anyone actually had also been signed up there and if they experienced the same problems. I need to determine if that site was never real in the first place or some scam.

You can get in, but it says you have no permission when trying to see any postings, etc.

I used to post there.
And it is no longer working properly, this is a shame since it was the best of the four main ones.
If you are the Scott who owns one of the others then you might do well to not bother posting any paedophile stuff, since we are able to criticise it here.

That permissions error began to appear on Aug 19th. Since then the site began to take a long time to load, and coupled with the inability to look at anything, I haven't been back. The site suffered from neglect of database bugs for a couple months before that. Doesn't seem to be ever coming back.

The site has a number of server problems. Since the owners don't communicate (even with their own mods) is yet another problem.

She's implying the website is US based where they prefer the term math over maths. The website has several features which I like.

I just started posting there this past spring, so I didn't get to see it in its working state for very long, but it was a good forum for the couple months I was able to enjoy it.

Someone bought the site in the last year or two. It's odd that they did, because obviously they're happy to let it just die. There was a major crash that kept the site completely offline for 10 days or two weeks or so, and then when it finally came back online it was completely buggy. The bugs have only gotten worse, so that tons of people, including me, now receive a "you do not have permission to view this" (or whatever it says exactly) error whenever you try to read any threads . . . which makes it completely useless now. I no longer visit and try to put up with the other bugs, which is what I was doing for a month or so, hoping that it would finally be fixed.

point out that this only pertains to the quality of philosophical debate on them and nothing else

I agree that ILP is shite. It's a knocking shop for children, but..

Online Philosophy Club Is for PAEDOS.

It is moderated by some very nice and responsible people. I have learnt a lot there.

Yes, It's a shame, it was good.
In my opinion:

Philosophyforum: Good... and now it's dead.
Thephilosophyforum: Bad structure, bad moderators, crap threads.
TheonlinePhilosophyForum: Low activity, you can't edit posts, slow when you are new, lot of religious stuff.
This: Nearly inexistent moderators, MegaHostility, egoland.

Still better than Spanish forums though.
