Could mods really be bots?

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

I think it can happen if it hasn't already. There's no personal contact (face-to-face level) to let you verify. I believe every mod function can be handled by an AI bot.

Why not?

A future where chatbots make personal conversation a costly luxury
Ultimately, I think this means intelligent human interaction, unmediated by machines and uninterrupted by technology, will be a luxury that some people are prepared to pay handsomely to enjoy
Article is a bit silly, but to answer your question I don't think mods would give up that privilege. There will be forums like this one for years to come, and even though mods and admin. can be jerks and unreasonable at times, I seriously doubt they'd disrespect members on a personal level with weirdo robots. Actually, your post seems like it could have been generated by a bot so now I'm not sure. My god, am I even real?

Nobody could be disrespected if visitors can't tell the difference Mr. Green. Let me modify my question a bit. Can anybody tell the difference and should a forum have a notice about AI moderation?

Sure they could tell, eventually. And yes, a notification would be much appreciated. If a bot is programmed to flag certain words, it would still have to be sent to a human for contextual analysis. Wouldn't you think? If true, having a bot seems like extra work for mods if their pm box is constantly flooded with flagged posts.
