Trump called the Pope disgraceful.

How should society be organised, if at all?

Trump, like a lot of folks, skews toward the hyperbolic. 'Disgraceful' is a bit much.

However, having an opinion is no obligation to inflict the world with it. The pope, like a lot of folks, should exercise a smidgen of discretion. Like I tell the nine year old: not everything runnin' through your head is worthy of public consumption. 'No comment' is underused.

It's not a bit much when the Pope interferes in American politics by trying to turn Catholics and other Christians away from Trump.

Bob,

I got a problem with foreign heads of state inserting themselves into american politics as well. I got a problem when american elected and appointed folks insert themselves into foreign politics too.

Me: I call it 'improper', not 'disgraceful'.

We both agree it was improper for the Pope to attack Trump. Of course, Wiltrack disagrees.

When responding to the pope's comment, Trump angrily said ...
"No leader should have the right to question another man's religion or faith."

But Trump tweeted just a few days earlier ...
"How can Ted Cruz be an Evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?"

Not that I'm a Cruz supporter ... Trump doesn't like having a dose of his own medicine, Just sayin'

Jo,

I expect american candidates to go at each other...that's a tradition that goes back to before the formal founding of the country...at the least, it's entertaining; at the most, it's helps to weed out pussies with thin skin.

Raw meat, internal, politics is one thing...the seated head of a foreign power sticking his nose into matters that aren't his concern is another.

Again: 'no comment' is underused.

Henry,

I'm sick of politicians mudslinging at each other. I want our country to be united. No more vitriolic exchanges, demonizing each other, you know? I wish they'd just seriously discuss about important issues. Our country is already so divided and it pains me to see the division even going further and further. I want someone who can unite the country. Trump is definitely NOT IT.

If you're looking for entertainment, how about you tune in to WWE?

As I say: raw meat politics is a tradition going back to before the formal founding of the country...it is what it is.

"I want someone who can unite the country."

And I want proxies who do the jobs they were hired to do and no more. Leave the 'unification' to private citizens to sort out.

That's not a good justification for me not to call for an improvement of our political system.

Hey, you should work for whatever reforms you like.

We all need rainbows to chase.

Me: more profitable to play with the nine year old.

If the pope is not qualified to offer commentary on what does and does not represent Christian values then who the hell is? There are over a 1.25 billion Catholics in the world who look to him for precisely this sort of spiritual guidance.
