...first let me get this out of the way...





Below are a list of Mortal sins: Grave matters: Things that, if you commit, will cast you into hell FOREVER if left unforgiven.


The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines the following actions as constituting grave matter:[24]

This is not necessarily all of the possible grave matters.


Name Description

Abortion …including any formal cooperation in it.

Adulation …of another's grave faults if it makes one an accomplice in another's vices or grave sins, but it is not grave when it only seeks to be agreeable, to avoid evil, to meet a need, or to obtain legitimate advantages.

Adultery

Agnosticism

Atheism

Bestiality

Blasphemy

Contraception

Cheating …unless the damage inflicted is so small that one who suffers it cannot reasonably consider it significant.

Defrauding …a worker of his wages

Missing Mass Deliberate failure to go to Mass on holy days of obligation is a mortal sin unless excused for a serious reason (for example illness or to care for infants) or dispensed by one's own pastor

Divination

Divorce If civil divorce, which cannot do anything to the spiritual marriage in the eyes of God, remains the only possible way of ensuring certain legal rights, the protection of inheritance, or the care of the children it is not a sin.

Using drugs …unless on strictly therapeutic grounds

Endangering …one's own life or the safety of others (e.g., by drunkenness, a love of speed on the road, at sea, or in the air, or gross negligence).

Envy …if to the level of wishing grave harm to another.

Euthanasia …of other human beings with souls. Assisted suicide in animals is not considered an offense.

Extortion

Extreme anger …at the level of truly and deliberately desiring to seriously hurt or kill someone

False Oaths

Fornication

Hatred …of a neighbor to the point of deliberately desiring him or her great harm

Homosexual actions

Idolatry

Incest

Lying The gravity is measured by "the truth it deforms, the circumstances, the intentions of the one who lies, and the harm suffered by its victims."

Masturbation The gravity is measured by conditions of anxiety, force of acquired habit, and/or emotional immaturity.

Murder …and co-operation in murder (except when done in self-defense or defense of others when there is no other way). Abortion and euthanasia as well as acceptance by human society of murderous famines without trying to fix them are included as murder. "Unintentional killing is not morally imputable. But one is not exonerated from grave offense if, without proportionate reasons, he has acted in a way that brings about someone's death, even without the intention to do so.

Perjury …false oaths generally.

Polygamy

Pornography

Prostitution "While it is always gravely sinful to engage in prostitution, the imputability of the offense can be attenuated by destitution, blackmail, or social pressure."

Rape

Unjust prices Refusing or withholding a just wage; taking advantage of the poor.

Sacrilege

Scandal Deliberately causing someone to sin gravely.

Simony Buying or selling spiritual things, such as sacraments.

Suicide "Grave psychological disturbances, anguish, or grave fear of hardship, suffering, or torture can diminish the responsibility of the one committing suicide. We should not despair of the eternal salvation of persons who have taken their own lives. By ways known to him alone, God can provide the opportunity for salutary repentance. The Church prays for persons who have taken their own lives."

Terrorism …that threatens, wounds and kills indiscriminately




* Remember - the above list is peccata mortalia in Catholic theology. Meaning, you break even ONE of these and you won't get into heaven;


Mortal sins are wrongful acts that condemn a person to Hell after death if unforgiven.

These sins are considered "mortal" because they constitute a rupture in a person's link to God's saving grace: the person's soul becomes "dead", not merely weakened.

Have you ever thought through your wish to go to heaven? Let us say you get there.

Who do you think you will find there? Probably Martin Luther King Jr, Mahatma Gandhi (doubtful because he was not Christian), Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa and the likes. Then you will be given simple foods to eat, and you will all sit together and sing hymns and stuff all day.

Then it will be time for dinner and you will eat simple foods and then go to bed to get up at 5.00 AM sharp.

Then you will have a simple breakfast and gather to start singing hymns again.

Then maybe have some great discussions on how to be good and improve yourself and make yourself better.

Remember you are in heaven, so no bad thoughts are allowed there. So you will keep your mind in check, no porn, no nothing, just good thoughts about God and goodness and love and stuff.

This will happen day in and day out for a very long period of time, probably a million years or so give or take a billion.

Then one day, you will take a walk and you will come across a nubile young woman who you will see for the first time. And BAM!!!!! Off you go to hell!

Be careful what you wish for, my friend. You might just get it.

No loving god would make me suffer in hell for eternity. That's a manmade idea. It may have meaning or seem real to you... so, yes, you better keep praying... 'cause that's some heavy shit.

Sure. Isn't there a difference between (A) Preaching (what will happen to all of us if we don't do such-and-such... followed by ecstatic exclamations of "Sweet Jesus!") and (B) Discussing philosophy of religion? Doesn't discussion involve questioning and answering... rather than spewing and ignoring? Which is it that the OP of this thread is doing? Are there any boundaries for the purpose of this website?
