I had planned on reading Durant's The Story of Philosophy for another historical overview, but as I skimmed it, noted his criticism of philosophical positions he did not agree with, and dropped it as overly biased.

I read it many moons ago. Far prefer it to Bertrand Russell's The History of Western Philosophy. The subject invites bias since it's almost impossible for the writer, at least to some extent not to assert his own opinions when confronting those of others.
