I've read about philosophers. Have I blown my chances of being one?

Well...what are you doing now?

Are you practicing a philosophical dicipline that you have read about?

No. Do you think that what you do should be considered philosophy?

Yeah and people who read about philosophers are still philosophers. You don't magically not become a philosopher because you didn't read some wank mag from The Illuminati nor is your philosophical worth judged solely on your sources of wisdom be they leading experts on the subject or books, apparently some people think this is not the case. You are a philosopher if you think about the bigger questions on a regular basis, it has nothing to do with whether you read Ayn rand's book on ill conceived libertarian nonsense. I don't get why this is so hard to understand. Apparently philosophers aren't very bright.

That doesn't mean your a Philosopher, in that you have a career in philosophy, it just means you love knowledge. This clowning about is only embarrassing you Bill.

Well, I'm certainly not reposting across the board.

Are you practicing a philosophical dicipline that you have read about?
Yes, and it doesn't involve endless reposting.

Yeah...yeah, I kind-of reposted.

Only because I think I hit upon a statement that deserved it's own thread.

It's funny. The fellow members who attack me instead of reflecting upon the meaning of this thread

...or perhaps you did reflect...and you aren't that comfortable with what you see in that reflection.

No. No I'm not embarrassed.

Not for me that is.

You don't post threads that have any real meaning Bill, you just do not. They are all just mindless in the main. If you could of course post a thread that had some meaning, it would last, but they don't do they, because it's all just bs and your threads wont ever last beyond 6 pages, because and no offence they are just useless, boring and you seem to be obsessed with posting pictures that don't in fact explain anything at all. Which is fine don't get me wrong I do like individuals with a style of their own: vivre le difference. But if you think anything you post is going to last then perhaps you need to get out more?
Throwing stones.
See what I mean throwing stones, what does that mean. You might as well of posted in Greek for all your last post meant. Because frankly it's all Greek to anyone.

Not kind-of Bill, did and do so over and over again.
Only because I think I hit upon a statement that deserved it's own thread.
It wasn't relevant in the thread you posted it and its pretty irrelevant on its own as, as usual, its gnu nonsense.
It's funny. The fellow members who attack me instead of reflecting upon the meaning of this thread
What's not funny is your refusal to address any critique of your posts.

No. No I'm not embarrassed.

Don't shit on my thread.

Even if there aren't any real, practicing philosophers here no need to fill the thread full of fear.

I am happy with no responses.

MANY of my best threads have NO responses.
Or few responses.

Fear is not how we do philosophy girls.

Not, just responding to your words.

No fear of that.

From the man who's bragged upon this forum that he had the most responded to thread.

But misogyny is is it? I thought you said fear was one of the only things we have?

It's the nature of public forums, Bill: you post something, people respond as they see fit. You cannot demand that we respond as you wish.

Bill Wiltrack wrote:Even if there aren't any real, practicing philosophers here no need to fill the thread full of fear.

What a bizarre thing to say. How does anything said on this thread fill it full of fear?

The fact that they received so few responses suggests it is only you that thinks they have any merit.

I know. Can you explain what role you believe fear is playing?

Yes, I must confess, I hold the longest, most responded to thread that has ever existed in these hollowed halls of the PhilosophyNow Forums.

...and it would still be growing strong if it weren’t for a bee getting under the bonnet of one of the former Moderators here.

Fear exists, fear is present when I look at the boards and individuals think that they have to carry-on an attempted philosophical conversations hiding under the guise of Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Numbnuts, Big Bird, Ushit, Pebbles or whatever daffy titles most members hide behind.

If you had more brains or balls you'd be ashamed.

But you don't.

...and you never will.

...so yeah, I accept the fact that I will never be popular here.

Nor would/were Christ, Galileo, or Socrates.

It clearly bothers you, otherwise you wouldn't react as you do.
Bill Wiltrack wrote:Nor would/were Christ, Galileo, or Socrates.
Do you have any idea why these three got into trouble? What has the way they were treated have to do with the level of popularity you enjoy?

Bill, there is really no such thing as a "true" philosophy. All that has happened over the millennia is that philosophy has diverged into sub-branches of knowledge. The particular branch you favor is just that.
