Dialectical Philosophy & Modern Politics

Post by WanderingLands »

I'm going to be looking into the Romantic Era and the German Idealism of the 19th century, in conjunction with researching the Prussian School System, and how it may have influenced the current nature of Politics today. It is specifically going to be looking at Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel, and his philosophy of the Dialectics. The Dialectics, in the Hegelian and Marxist sense, consists of two opposing forces (ex. the thesis and antithesis), and the third force, the Synthesis that binds both of those two opposing forces.

How it has influenced politics, for me, consist of many examples:

1. Republican vs. Democract (the two-party system in America)
2. Left-wing vs. Right-wing
3. Dialectical Materialism of Marxism

Now, I have not gotten yet into the depths of this philosophy and ideology yet, and I am currently busy looking at many other things (mainly in piecing things in history together). I do have some books in PDF form, such as a book on German Idealism, and Hegel & the Hermetic Tradition, and including The Underground History of American Education by John Taylor Gatto.
