Here's a hypothetical "100 people vs. 1 cat or dog" scenario and the 100 people are all American embassy staff and employees." Let's say for the sake of argument you had some premonition or inkling that the Iranians were about to STORM the AMERICAN EMBASSY, do you not warn the American embassador / ambassador meaning you could "self evacuate" from Iran and take your pet cat or dog with you but the 100 officials of the American embassy could end up becoming POTENTIAL HOSTAGES or do you warn the American ambassador, meaning you would have to join the airlift arranged by your country's embassy and leave your beloved pet behind to an uncertain fate but at least the American embassy officials WONT BE TAKEN HOSTAGE???????????????
