This problem is sometimes know as the Euthyphro dilemma sometimes stated as:
Does God only command things because they are morally good; or is it the case that what God commands must be morally good?
Re: arrogance and ignorance
What i was getting at ginkgo is ..is good the super object from which evil is discerned.
Re: arrogance and ignorance
That could be answered this way. I think that the Catholic church teaches that God is not all powerful as is often assumed since he acts within his nature of goodness and love and cannot commit evil, which would be against his nature. Thus, it follows that what he commands must be morally good.Ginkgo wrote:jackles wrote:Is arrogance ignorance .arrogance is quite difficult to diffine is it ignorance.as in ignorant self belief.you can have a very intellegent ignorant indervidual.what descernes arrogants.is it good that descerns arragance.is good and god one in the same thing.

Re: arrogance and ignorance
But say we take the good from the action of a good action.or of a good observation.is not the good taken from the action or good observation god.so god is the good in a good action or observation.that is the sizeless unmoving good or god.
Re: arrogance and ignorance
No, because God is not an abstract concept such as "Good" since he is a person who acts in such a manner that he personifies "Good."jackles wrote:But say we take the good from the action of a good action.or of a good observation.is not the good taken from the action or good observation god.so god is the good in a good action or observation.that is the sizeless unmoving good or god.
Re: arrogance and ignorance
No i think what your saying is wrong.god is nonlocal and from a local perspective that means god is abstract.but the truth is locality is abstracted from god.man is there for a consciouse molecular abstraction of god.man is molecularised god.man knows evil.only god knows evil.good knows evil.good awareness is god in molecular form..good man is a son or molecular satalite of a nonlocal .god
Re: arrogance and ignorance
I am not following you. I take my interpretation of who God is from the bible and based on church tradition. Maybe we differ on that. But, I do not reinvent God but have decided to trust in the competence of others to correctly observe and to honestly convey information (the apostles, etc.). Based on that, God is indeed a person as Jesus Christ, but with the capabilities that we ascribe to a divine being. This includes the ability to be in molecular and/or spiritual form, the ability to be local, multi-local and non-local in completeness. To me he is concrete and not some vague, misty and diffuse and undefinable object that you seem to make him out to be.
Re: arrogance and ignorance
God is love.love knows evil.love in man knows evil.love in man is god.love is nonlocal to the event.the parable of the good samariton is the parable of love in a localised event..when mans identity is event identity it causes the duality of good and evil.in other words a mixture of the selfish localised being.with the nonlocal soul.love.god is love.nonlocalised consciousness without love is hell.
