I wrote this as an exercise in writing English, with a libertarian/liberal/constitutionalist American audience in mind. You can comment on my message as well as on my writing.

Country of Freedom

Once upon a time, there was a group of people living on huge lands. The lands
were enormous, but only lightly populated. The people enjoyed many freedoms:
they lived on privately owned grounds and were involved in free trade with
places from all over the lands, and even the rest of the world.

But while the wealth of the lands grew, the envy of outsiders grew equally. And
the foreign King that ruled over the lands wanted to benefit from its inhabitants'
profits. And thus, while the wealth of the lands grew, the taxes that were forced
upon its citizen grew as well.

The taxes grew, but the people received no voice in the governing powers of the
King. They said to their King:

"No taxation without representation!"

But the King wouldn't listen. And their trade suffered from the increasing taxes.
They continued their lives for a long time, until they could not take it any longer.
They said to their King:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that
they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among
these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness."

And they broke with the foreign King. The King was not amused, and a war
followed. Eventually the people of the lands won, and they created their own
government. The Country of Freedom was born, and they lived happily ever after.

Generation after generation the Freedom of the Country was conserved by the
people. Years, decades and centuries passed. The population grew from
thousands to millions to hundreds of millions.

And while the population grew, the government grew equally, until it could not
grow any bigger. But even then it expanded, and vast organisations arose under
the arms of the government.

Some organisations became so powerful they were able to evade the democratic
supervision that the people of the lands had established centuries ago. And the
organisations spied on the country's citizen without their knowledge or consent.

Sometimes a person who worked for one of such organisations would stand up,
and tell the people that his organisation is secretly and illegally surveilling all
communication in and outside the Country. And he would say:

"I don't want to live in a world where everything that I say, everything I do,
everyone I talk to, every expression of creativity or love or friendship is recorded."

And the government would persecute him for aiding the enemy, and he would be
put in jail for the rest of his life.

Until today the process continues. Will the people of the Country of Freedom break
with their new oppressor?

Unfortunately, this so-called "Country of Freedom" has always been an illusion. As an example, the 18th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution prohibited the manufacture and distribution of alcoholic beverages in the U.S. There are probably a million other examples of government oppression in America that only the principles of the American Energy Party (AEP) can cure.
