A "rhetorical" question is, by definition, one for which the answer is obvious or automatic.

So what is the automatic answer you perceive?

I told you! Because they read The Course!

Now, I suspect that you don't accept that answer and that you have your own. How do you answer your own question? Surely those who read here will want to know. It is a vital piece of information, right? and will help them to arrive at a correct understanding of things.

So what is it?

Ridicule is not response.

Interesting that you're so evasive, given that you claim the answer is automatic and obvious. Let's make it one more thing: explicit.

What is your answer?

I'm inclined to believe that it is very likely that they didn't really care what the Western Media would think or think twice about it. Their attack was essentially suicidal and I'm sure they knew that. They probably decided to go down as martyrs in the Islamic tradition, was what they were thinking--72 virgins and all that.

If that had been the case, Gary, they could have had that much more cheaply. They could have just personally thrown themselves into an IDF checkpoint, yelling "Allahu akbar," and they'd have gotten that death.

I'm asking you. And you're afraid to give the answer you claim is "rhetorically" obvious.

Are you ashamed?

There was probably the desire to take as many Israelis with them as they could. Also, they were probably counting on pressure from Iran and Hezbollah to help coax the Israelis into a settlement. Attacking a checkpoint would have no strategic importance. If they're going to potentially be martyrs, they probably want to change history for their people. Not go down as having decimated an IDF checkpoint.

Why? What are you getting at? That Hamas had some kind of guarantee from Western academia that they would receive backing from them? Is it some kind of conspiracy afoot?

A question. One AJ claims he knows the answer to, but he won't answer. Ask yourself why.

As far as I am concerned none of your mishegoss is to the point.

The point is that an entire narrative (that many Jews and Israelis have, and have had) is experiencing a stunning, consequential reversal. God’s children and the Jewish Project (if we take Waldo Frank seriously — I do in certain regards) is all in question.

Literally, God Himself is (should be, must be?)
“boiling in anger”.

The really really curious thing is that our own ultra-righteous dyed in the wool Christian Zionist finds himself committed not to the godly side, but rather (to employ symbolism) to the satanic side.

Something is deeply wrong with his theology!

The entire error of trying to force God’s hand by a willed return to Zion now reveals what it really is — for all to see.

I find this poignant and really fascinating. There is so much to say about it and there is no one home to even notice!

that I got from ChatGPT.
There is nothing against the Zionist idea of restoring a Jewish state in the Promised Land.
But Belinda's statement saddens me, I had the impression that she was a sane girl.

Avoidance. Lying. Shame. One of the three, at least.

He says he has an answer. He says it's "rhetorically" obvious. He will not say what it is. :?

Ask myself why about what? As I stated I doubt they thought that they could "absolutely" count on journalists and academics in the West to protest the Israeli response. As I say, they probably were going to do what they were going to do regardless of what the West thought. As it happened, a lot of people in the West were shocked by the extremity of the Israeli response. It's maybe worth noting that Israel doesn't seem to care what the rest of the world thinks either. Hamas is probably the same way.
