He can't. He can't follow a conversational thread. That's been a constant since he started posting here. He doesn't get it.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 5:00 pmAre you not giving this as an example of human action, of human free will? "To do what, exactly", to venture to another planet? I'm not saying this to be mean, for the record, but it comes up all over the place, left and right. If you make some contextually relevant reply to something he said, half the time he'll act like he has no idea why you're saying that. And more than half of his posts are not contextually relevant at all. A solid 95% of the stuff he posts is just pure misunderstanding and confusion.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 5:08 pmThanks for the heads up!Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 5:04 pmHe can't. Thanks, it eliminates a great deal of frustration. I didn't take it as mean-spirited.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 5:13 pmI'm not saying this to be mean, for the record, but it comes up all over the place, left and right. Yes there is. I just gave you one.popeye1945 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 5:00 pmAre you not giving this as an example of human action, of human free will? "To do what, exactly", to venture to another planet? You need to do some reading, there is no such thing as unmotivated movement or intention.

Guess Free-Willists just need to take your word for it then.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 6:37 pmI'm not accepting chores from you mate, lmao. I have read your op already. I'm not desperate to search for a disagreement with Belinda. I already know we don't see things the same way.
It's for your own benefit that I ask you to talk to people who disagree with you as individuals and not as monoliths. Doing so will improve YOUR persuasive abilities, give you more fruitful conversations, and make you sound less ignorant.Wizard22 wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 6:50 pmGuess Free-Willists just need to take your word for it then.Flannel Jesus wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 6:37 pmI'm not accepting chores from you mate, lmao. So, you would in fact benefit from taking my word for it: for any philosophical disagreement you have with any group of people, you'll be better off talking to those people who disagree with you as individuals.
There's no righteousness in not doing so.
Is it bad and monolithic to confound an argument that supports Free Will, but not confound the person who argues on behalf of it? Some ideas are so bad that they perhaps always were bad, and some ideas are bad because they no longer function for good; such ideas need to be debunked. It's for your own benefit that I ask you to talk to people who disagree with you as individuals and not as monoliths.
