Does the "Free Will" point of view affect morals and character?

So what's really going on?

Are you not giving this as an example of human action, of human free will? "To do what, exactly", to venture to another planet? You need to do some reading, there is no such thing as unmotivated movement or intention.

He can't. He can't follow a conversational thread. That's been a constant since he started posting here. He doesn't get it.

I'm not saying this to be mean, for the record, but it comes up all over the place, left and right. If you make some contextually relevant reply to something he said, half the time he'll act like he has no idea why you're saying that. And more than half of his posts are not contextually relevant at all. A solid 95% of the stuff he posts is just pure misunderstanding and confusion.

Thanks, it eliminates a great deal of frustration. I didn't take it as mean-spirited.

Says the guy who can't even read the posts in his threads.

Wizard, nobody, NOBODY, reads every single post of a thread they post in. This weird requirement you've come up with is not reasonable, it's not shared by anybody else, it's almost certainly hypocritical of you, and you haven't even justified why it's a requirement.

You don't have to read every line.

But AT LEAST read the OP, read the first few pages, get a bearing on the conversation...if you had, then you'd know Belinda's position by now.

Go ahead and say where you disagree with her after how much you protest "Determinists don't think all alike!"

Show me this uniqueness you presume.

I'm not accepting chores from you mate, lmao. I have read your op already. I'm not desperate to search for a disagreement with Belinda. I already know we don't see things the same way.

Guess Free-Willists just need to take your word for it then.

It's for your own benefit that I ask you to talk to people who disagree with you as individuals and not as monoliths. Doing so will improve YOUR persuasive abilities, give you more fruitful conversations, and make you sound less ignorant.

So, you would in fact benefit from taking my word for it: for any philosophical disagreement you have with any group of people, you'll be better off talking to those people who disagree with you as individuals.

There's no righteousness in not doing so.

Is it bad and monolithic to confound an argument that supports Free Will, but not confound the person who argues on behalf of it? Some ideas are so bad that they perhaps always were bad, and some ideas are bad because they no longer function for good; such ideas need to be debunked.
